What Is Your Most Unpretentious Handgun?

Simple but works like a charm. My old S&W Model 10 4 inch .38 special. This is when you could count on a smooth action right from the factory. After a few hundred rounds it was even smoother.

Only modifications are the Pachmeyer grips.

Okay, I have to ask, because I love those little vintages. What caliber (.25?), and has it failed to fire, jammed or stove-piped on you? My favorite antique semi is the Colt 1907 .32. I had the chance to by one LNIB in 1980 for $250. at a gun shop in New Hampshire, and passed! :( :( :(

Had a new Russian Baikal .380 I bought in 1989 when they were $150. and came with the case, cleaning rod and funky holster. For anything over .22 cal, that is the most reliable and accurate open combat sight semi I've ever owned, bar none.

Upper left. 12-2 Airweight.

Looks like a plain jane Model 10 but it's lighter and oh, what a great DA/SA trigger.

I've carried it in the bush legally with a Canadian carry permit. But the Model 19, lower right is a better choice for black bear at contact range.

I am not into fancy guns although it seems that over the years several of mine have become rather valuable with age. I would have to say that the most unpretentious are the two that I carry every day. First is my bone stock Gen3 Glock 19 that I have had for several years and the second would be my S&W Shield, also totally unaltered.

Probably my Glock 19. Dime a dozen, heck Obama says they are easier to get than a schoolbook in some cities.

Works though, works well.

Here's my Colt Police Positive in .38 S&W (not Special). An uncle owned and carried it as a plant guard at Bethleham Steel in Buffalo before WWll. After 3 years in the South Pacific with Navy CB's on garden spots like Guadalcanal, he returned to the same job. His son went to prison so the gun went to me after he passed on.

It's still a good shooter, very light on the hip and does right well for an ~100 year old cannon. That's 5-shot group BTW not six. Best Regards, Rod

None

I do not own any pretentious guns......except for, maybe, a Pardini Free pistol. I kinda think of it as more unusual than pretentious.
My least pretentious, if I have to choose, is a Ruger MK.II.

Just for fun, I couldn't help but think of a couple pretentious examples.

The Hundred Dollar print Hi-point: https://www.sportsmansoutdoorsuperstore.com/products2.cfm/ID/169719/916m/hi-point-c9-9mm-with-hundred-dollar-($100)-bill-finish

Fancy pants milled Glocks (don't hate me, maybe they do perform better!) https://www.zevtechnologies.com/zev-gallery-page

Anything that has been cerakoted to look "battle worn". Ugh. "I can't be bothered to actually carry / use my firearm myself, but boy I'd like to look as if I did". Let's play make believe. https://www.cerakote.com/project-gallery/65132/battleworn-glock-19-cerakoted-using-armor-black-and-satin-mag

Don't mean to derail thread, just automatically thought of the opposite.

Are those gold Desert Eagles made in Juarez or Tijuana?
