Smith and Wesson serial number search

I'm not sure I follow?

The Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson list the bodyguard serials as:
1982 = J915401 - 1J18600
1983 = 1J18601 - xxxx
1984 = starts at ADT3000. So the only place your serial # 9J6xxx will fit is 1983.

I guess I should have just told you 1983 from the start instead of confusing it with additional info. Hope this helps.

I just found two S&W revolvers that were in my late father's belongings. I know that they are commonly referred to as "lemon squeezers" due to the design, but I know nothing else about their age or possible value. Here's the information I have available on the two:

S&W Hammerless DAO .38 4" Barrel 5 shot Nickel - SN: 1830XX
- has not been kept in the cleanest/driest of conditions
- nickel is pitted...guesstimate of 75%
- rifling is not worn and very distinctive even though the barrel does not appear shiny inside

S&W Hammerless DAO .32 3" Barrel 5 shot Nickel - SN: 1645XX
- same conditions as above

Any feedback you might share with me as to the age and approximate value of these firearms would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Thank you Baba Louie.

Any ballpark guess on value? I have someone interested in purchase and he wants me to name a price. I've guessed at $350.00 each. I want all I can get, but don't want to take advantage of this person, he's a friend.

Stitch:
Any ballpark guess on value?
A quick look see on GunBroker shows asking prices ranging from $125-$250 for well used (rusty blue to aging nickel) with clean models going from the 4's to 5 range, so if it's a good friend, I'd feel good about $350 each and could sleep well at night.

But again, your location might have certain variables that alter real life prices somewhat (CA and MA come to mind).

One more I thought of. Can anyone tell the year of my great grandfather's Safety Hammerless (aka Lemon squeezer)? It's chambered for .38 S&W and the serial is 2308XX.

Thanks again.
