Four C&R additions from Show in Hampton, VA

Went to the show in Hampton, VA this day and came home with four pistols. First is an FEG .380 serial number in the low 78xxx. Pistol looks pretty good with finish I would estimate at 85%. Has the magazine and appears to function properly. It is nice and tight. Gave 170.00 for it Next is...

    I just have to vent!

I went to the firearm show today at the Hampton Convention Center. I walked away from one booth very aggravated. This is a guy who is at the show almost every time. He always has the same stuff, never sells anything. He has some nice stuff, some second and third gens, but there are some things...

Need a quick steer.... Auction ends at 7:00 pm today.

On GB there is a Baretta Renegade 1873 Winchester from Uberti with a 20" octagon barrel in .45 LC. The price is 800 with no bids. Buy it now for 900.00. These rifles go new for up to 1400.00. The rifle is used but looks perfect. Seems like it is too good to pass up. Am I missing sumpin?

    Just received my latest....

Saturday night special. Raven MP-25 in .25 ACP. Pistol is in excellent shape. I gave 73.55 for it and even though I prolly overpaid for it, I don't feel bad. Interesting little pistol. Field strips very easy. The magazine looks new. Bore is very good. Finish is quite good still. Operation...

Okay guys..I need a definitive answer

I have been considering an 1866 to 1873 Winchester clone. You all know I am an unabashed tightwad. I have been looking at the Chaparral 1866 that has been going for about 750 - 800 delivered. How close is this rifle to the original 1866 Winchester. I know the Chaparral has a steel receiver...

Last day of the Gun Show ...

At the Port Charlotte Fairgrounds south of Tampa. Small but interesting show. Several pistols I wanted to buy but the vendors simply were stuck at their prices. Saw what appeared to be some good prices on Uberti Winchester clones. Right at the 800.00 to 900.00 range. A Henry Clone from...

Need a magazine for a Regina .25 ACP

Does anyone have a lead on the magazine for that pistol? Does anyone have a lead on a complete pistol (Pre-1927 if that matters) that includes the magazine (Don't care about the condition since I am only looking for parts) I have my eyes on a magazine from a Bauer .25 ACP which looks very...

I asked this question over on the C&R forum

I am sensitive to the fact that I post things on this forum that have only a loose association with black powder and I have been trying to avoid that. But here goes. I am hoping that one of you historians who does not read the C&R forum might know the answer. Is there any relationship between...

    Allen - Allen

Historians, Is Charles Allen of Hopkins and Allen related to Ethan Allen, father in law of Messrs. Forehand and Wadsworth?

    Bulldog from Forehand and Wadsworth

Came home with a .44 Webley British Bulldog from the Forehand and Wadsworth company. Revolver was in a gun shop in Ivor, VA for repair. Repairs complete. Owner contacted repeatedly over a two year period with no response. His loss. My gain. Along with the pistol I got 250 rounds of .44...

    1866 versus 1873

Those of you who know about both, can you provide a comparison? Lets consider only clones for this discussion unless you speak of features of the originals which are pertinent. I have been wanting an 1873 but I found an Uberti 1866 which should go pretty cheap.

Just came up with three pistols

Off of the Gunbroker. Actually the auction was for four pistols, but one of them appears to be a completely rusted out relic. None of them are collectable pistols. But one in the bunch is a Regina .25 Automatic. Can anyone tell me anything about this semi auto pistol?

Doing some exploring of GUnshops south of Richmond

Found a guy who had an old Hopkins and Allen revolver in .38 S&W. Revolver looks like heck but it is tight as a drum. Fully functional. It'll be a project to pretty this thing up. The good news is that the grips are perfect.

    My appetite for a Winchester

....has been whetted. All this talk about El Tigre, 44-40 and Uberti 1873s has me going. I am getting ready to make a move on an 1873 or 1873 Clone. I am thinking Uberti over Chaparral. Almost any caliber that begins with a four. (.44 sp, .44 Mgnm, 44-40 or .45LC.) I am NOT staying away from...

    Finally Got to Action Auctions

This is the Wednesday Night Auction in Florida just below Zephyrhills. It is a huge auction and at 7:00 they auction off firearms. I did not score any firearms because in my opinion the prices were being bid up too high. Used Brass Frame 1851 Pattern from Pietta went for 135.00. It was in...

    Got some new parts...

....for my latest trapdoor carbine. This is the rifle that started out as a parts rifle from a gun show. The bore was quite pitted even after cutting off the last ten inches. So I went shopping around for a replacement barrel on the evil bay and GB. Finally came up with a rifle length...

    Nice day for shooting

Went out to Suffolk to burn up some ammunition. Took along two Uberti .357s Cattlemen to try an experiment on the .38 Long Colts I loaded over the week. These are full loads with Triple 7 and a 130 grain RNFP in lead. I am using standard small pistol primers. I loaded half of the rounds with...

    Think I made a mistake....

I loaded Triple Seven FFFg in.45 LC cartridges at a full load. Got off the phone with a Hodgdon guy about a different issue and the conversation came around to 777 in .45 LC cartridges. He told me that there is a warning on 777 canisters to the effect that it is not intended for use in...

Just received the Hornady Lock n Load powder measure

And I like it. But two questions. 1. It appears and is implied in the manual, that the only way to set the volume of the charge is by counting the number of turns on the metering plunger. No problem there. (I know how to count to 20). But has anyone developed a way of repeating the charge...
