Browning BDA(Sig P220): Shoot it and use it, or NOT?

I saw one of these for $400 at the last show. It was in nice shape with 3 mags. Trouble is, I have a nagging feeling that it is collectable, and would not be wise to shoot and/or lightly customize. I don't mind the Euro release, and the older style grips fit and point better for me. Am I wrong?

Revolvers: Cheated out of better bullets?

Pistol bullets are confined to smaller HP cavities due to the rounded ogives needed for proper feeding. That's not an issue with revolvers(though it may be for lever carbines). So, why are we not blessed with .357" diameter bullets with, say, a .340-.350" cavity? It would seem to allow for much...

Training w/same gun, but in different calibers?

How many here own essentially the same gun, yet in two different calibers? For example, a Sig 228 in 9mm, and it's near twin sister in .40, the 229. Maybe a Glock 17, vs. the 22, or a Smith 642 and a 342Ti(I know, same caliber:)). Do you feel that training with the 9mm for economy of practice...

    "I need a price check on a P-7 please, register #3"

It is a BNIB P7(PSP), with the heel mag release. The button is flush mounted with the contour of the grip heel profile, not the more common one that protrudes out. Their 'firm' price is $1050, +tax. I feel that it is too high, but I'm just not sure with the limited availability of even re-furbed...

Help w/external safety modification to a revolver

I am not referring to the Muribato(sp?) modification to the cylinder release, nor the internal Magna-Trigger system. I saw this in Combat Handguns, IIRC. It consists of a checkered switch which is installed under the hammer spur, on the 'arch' of the exposed portion of the hammer. When you pull...

    Wilson's Pistol Maintenance Videos?

Do they cover COMPLETE detailed takedown procedures, or just field-stripping for cleaning?

    Own a CZ-75B that's NOT a Turkish Military version?

Those are the ones it seems that most posters have bought. My example's safety is best described as 'mushy', in both the on and off positions. The only new 'commercial' ones I have found at dealers are in .40 caliber. They all have very stiff safties which firmly lock into both positions, AND...

    Ashley front beads, anyone?

How much larger are they than a standard bead? I am considering one with the tritium insert, if that makes any difference. I know that they make two sizes for handguns.

For those of you who've chronographed Cor-Bon...

I have found the 9mm Mak load to avg. in excess of the velocity they print on the side of the box. This is refereshing, compared to other manufacturer's exaggerated claims. Based on the loads you've tried, does this hold true for them also, or did I happen onto a sterling example of their product?

Does IWB carry cause you any lower back discomfort?co

OK, a little backround is in order. I normally CCW a steel Kahr in a fanny pack of some sort. Occasionally, I'll use a 'clip-on' IWB on the strong side for a dog walk, or going out to dinner. For about two weeks, I have carried a CZ-75 strong side IWB almost daily. The rig is homemade, but...

OK, I was wrong about the Jungle Gun

I've been eyeing this one for most of the past year. It just seemed to 'fit' me like no other SG. After reading a glowing review, and hearing it lauded by Hans Vang, I was even more jazzed. I got discouraged after I handled the gun with some snap caps, as suggested to me by another poster, and...

Let's ALL agree to BAN "high capacity" magazines..

from our vocabulary! :) Please help correct those in the shooting community that you hear say this, especially dealers, your friends or strangers who you may have time to educate. There are NO "high-cap" mags, only those that have been RESTRICTED, limited, CHOKED, emasculated or KLINTONIZED...

I had my 3rd outing with the Mak today.

I must now concur with all of the fuss on this board over this little wonder. Initally, I thought it smacked pretty hard; but then again, I've been having a touch of the carpal tunnel lately. Make no mistake, it's not perfect. It slices me real good above the base knuckle of my thumb. The same...

    Disappointed w/Fed. 158gr+P Nyclad

Chrono'ed these out of a 442, and a M12, both with 2" barrels. Average velocity was under 700fps! I also had some CCI/Lawman 158gr+P TMJs. They broke into the low 800s, which is what I would expect for this weight in a +P format. What gives? Is Federal scrimping on the powder, or just playing...

Please don't laugh, but I kinda like it..

The Helwan clone of the Beretta 951. I read a very thorough review of this gun in the last G&A Surplus Firearms issue. Seems as though they are fairly stout. No, it wouldn't be for defense, just a plinker/tinker piece. An area dealer not known for low prices has it at $179. It has NO warranty...

Is the Norinco Makarov a Collectible?

Or, is it just a shooter? I saw a used one today with a very nice satin blue finish in excellent shape. It did have the rust colored bakelite grips, but the bore did not appear to be chromed. I would only want it for resale, if there is any interest in them. The Bulgies are cheaper, ANIB...

OK, I just broke down and got a Dillon 550

It's been a while since I last reloaded, but I am thoroughly familiar with the basics, and I've owned a Hornady ProJector before. What I would like is your suggestions for powder and primer combinations for the following calibers: .38 158gr SWCs, .357 125(jhps?), 9mm 115gr ball and .45, both...

    The New FireStar 9mm Compact...Anyone?

Sorry, Fire STORM.:) I've seen and handled it at the show, and for it's price...I'm tempted. I've learned that one need not drop $400 plus just to get a decent auto, but the past rep of Llama is a bit 'jaded'.

Question on Old Savage 12ga Shotgun

I just bought a Model 69RXL Series E. I posted about it in the SG forum; but, I felt that I may have a better chance here. The dealer guesstimated that it was produced in the 60's, and Savage would only refer me to their 'historian', who I must contact via snail mail. It has a 6rd. tube...

    Cheap 12ga. Savage SG: How'd I Do?

It is a Model 69RXL Series E. The address for Savage on the headstamp is Westfield, Mass. The dealer guesstimated that it was produced in the 60's? It appears to be 98% plus, and I paid $165. It has a 6rd. tube stopping an inch short of the muzzle. The mag's end cap is held in place by the...
