    Sig sight height

Can someone tell me which REAR sight is higher...#6 or #8? I've concluded that my older 220 is shooting low, having used a sandbag and bench. Both sights are #8. Thanks.

    So...what's going on here?

Federal 7 1/2 shell, good firing pin dimple. Remington 7 1/2 'sport load' shell, shallow dimple with 1 out of 5 needing a restrike. Both primers appear to be seated at the right depth, both shot from the same Mossberg 500. All the Federals shot that day worked fine.

    Another gunshow thread!

Went to the one in Louisville today. Lots of people mulling around and gawking, didn't look to be panic buying like it was last time. Plenty of ammo, at seriously ridiculous prices. No real shortage of 380 that I could see. 22 was on short supply though with the majority left on the tables...

    Kentucky open carry question

Long story short, the CC instructor told the class today that open carry in a vehicle is illegal without a CC permit, even if the gun is in plain sight on the dash, seat or between the console and seat. He pointed out the recent 'glovebox' allowance is for that purpose. He also said people in...

    Primer 'swipe'?

What is this an indication of, if anything? How does it occur? Note that the dark area is not a hole, just where the shiny spot failed to reflect the flash.

    HiPoint carbine and Henry 22

Time to consider a gun sale/buy again. My HiPoint 9mm hasn't been getting used all that much, mainly due to ammo costs. When 50rd boxes are $14, it gets expensive. I've been eyeing a Henry 22 for a while and really think I'd enjoy it a lot more. My funds are very limited. Do I sell the 9mm...

What has your SO 'confiscated' from your collection?

For example, my friend claimed my KelTec P11 as 'her own'.

    KY CCW class needed

Knob Creek offers a CC permit class, but I'm not too happy with a couple of their policies as of late. If anyone offers one around Louisville for less than their $100 cost, please let me know. My 6 month residency requirement is over in a couple days.

    Why get a state permit?

Kentucky has a 6-month residency requirement (why, I don't know) before I can apply for a CC permit. In the meantime I've been using my FL non-resident. Simply put, is it necessary to get a KY permit?

    Steel target question

I'd like to get a reactive target for the range that resets itself, like a 'popper' or similar. Doesn't have to be big, and it would be nice to have it go down with 22's if possible. Anything out there that doesn't cost more than $100 or so? I already have those swinging targets but I'm...

    Wholesale ammo prices?

Wait, wait. This isn't "another ammo thread", not exactly. All I'd like to know is what the dealer markup is lately on various common calibers. In other words, what is Winchester, Federal etc charging distributors and gun stores for their ammo? So any gun store employees want to chime in?

    StackOn cabinet mounting?

I know, it's not a safe but all I can afford. The new house I live in has the typical carpet/baseboards. For the life of me I can't figure out how to bolt this thing to the wall like I did at my last house. We rent, so can't go butchering up anything. You can see the space it leaves from the...

    Discovery Channel 'Weaponizers'

Awesome show, a few guys get together and make Mad Max vehicles out of junkers, then run an explosives obstacle course using various weapons like the 1919 and shotguns. Everything is remote controlled from an underground bunker on the Front Sight grounds...

That's it, I can't afford to shoot anymore.

Went to the range today. Two day passes, box of Wolf 9mm and Blazer aluminum, 50rd box of Egyptian x39. Total...$72. Looks like I'll just be plinking with 22 from now on. Oh wait, a brick of that is $30. I'm thinking the shooting sports will be relegated to the well-off here shortly.

Friend's kid moved into a new home

Can't believe it, but my friend's 21yo daughter just moved into a townhouse she's sharing with a friend. Very proud of her and the career she's pursuing. We went to visit her new place for the first time. Nice neighborhood, very 'bedroom community' if that's the right term. So naturally it...

    KY adult education carry question

My friend is taking an Excel class at an Adult Education facility near Louisville. As I understand KY law, you cannot carry on K-12 school property (unless you remain in the car with it) with the exception of "institutions of postsecondary and higher education" facilities. So I see this sign...

    New use for Google Maps

I like to read the 'Civilian Gun Self Defense Blog' on a daily basis. I noticed the accounts usually give a street address, so I typed in a few. Google Maps has a street view that shows the whole neighborhood and actual house as well. It's a real eye opener, puts things into perspective...

    La-la land

Wasn't sure what to title this, but anyway. I've known my friend's daughter since she was about 9. She's almost 21 now and she came out to visit this weekend from college. Her car broke down in a parking lot on the way here. I needed a couple parts and my friend asked if I could leave my...

    Measuring trigger pull?

A Kahr rep got back to me and stated my new K9 does not have the 'elite' trigger system, but has the NYPD 1/2" pull. No problem, I like it as-is. Question though, at what part of the trigger is the pull measured? If I test it at the middle, I get 3/8".
