Why isn't Russian 7.62 Nagant revolver ammo imported?

I recall seeing 40-round boxes of low-power wadcutters which were imported in the mid-1990s. Then the import was shut off and never re-started. Does anyone know why?

    Is this M14 stock broken?

I just received a used M14 fiberglass stock. When I examined it, I found that the rear sling swivel has some freedom of motion from side to side, perhaps 5-6 degrees in all. Is that normal or should I get the sling swivel fixed in place?

    Updates of old posters

Made some changes and updates based on my observations of the discussions of these posters, also tried to make the captions more readable. Original Original Original Seems that some thought "re-loading" referred to "making ammunition" rather than "reloading in combat". Will replace...

    Viability of "universal" firearms?

The current though is to make several variants of M16 the standard, with MP5, M3 submachine guns to fill in the gaps. Most countries in WW2 had rifles and submachine guns. The US had SMGs, carbines, rifles and BAR, which I'd have to classify as a SAW, rather than as an LMG. The result was having...

    Does anyone produce brass-cased buckshot?

I am looking for 00 buck similar to what was issued during the end of WW1, end of WW2 and Vietnam War. The closest I found were steel-cased .410 rounds made in Russia. Can anyone advise me on this?

    Some new images

I got tired of Microsoft Bob (and the other cutsie animated avatars) and created a MacRunt. I think she is much cuter and far more efficient at eliminating system bugs and viruses. (below) Suggestions on phrasing welcome: I am trying to explain that, no matter how popular raghead-bashing has...

Abandoning of 6.5mm -- mistake, good idea or irrelevant?

Before WW2, Italy went to 7.35mm from 6.5mm and Japan to 7.7mm from 6.5mm. Do you think they gained from that (better penetration, range), lost from it (more weight, recoil, less flat trajectory) or came out even (small arms being mostly irrelevant in the big picture)?

    a-human-right tshirts

I finally went to Cafepress and set up a tshirt (see the link in my tag line). I know it is not the most efficient method, but it will have to do for now. I will check into getting a large batch of shirts with another design printed shortly (ought to cost less per shirt).

    Alternatives to 10-22

I'd like a small semi-auto 22 carbine. I am not considering Remington Viper/597. Which other current or discontinued .22lr carbines would satisfy the following criterea: - box magazine, 10 rounds. - iron sights, grooved receiver or tapped for scope rails. - no magazine disconnect (current...

How to keep a sling from sliding off the shoulder?

I normally carry rifles muzzle down on the left side. The narrow nylon AR15 sling keeps sliding off the shoulder, unless tensioned with my left hand or moved way up to catch on the LBV suspenders. Can anyone recommend a better sling or some way to modify the existing one. Also, does anyone...

Best aftermarket sights for an M48 Mauser?

http://www.lippman-enterprises.com/lyman4.html http://www.ashleyoutdoors.com/rifle.php?groupshort=RMAUSER (could these be used with the original front post?) Any others? Which aftermarket sights would be easiest to install? most durable? adjustable for range? I might stick with the original...

    Weird grouping from a revolver

Fired a friend's single action revolver (I foget the brand, something obscure fromthe 1970s). It had a 45LC and a 45acp cylinders, we used the 45acp. For each cylinder (5 rounds) at 20ft, I got two consistent groups: a two-shot group 2" down and left of the bullseye and a three-shot group 1" up...

    Tactical thoughts from weekend warrier

Had a chance to try the new $100 Mauser from Aim Surplus. Looks: no cleaning rod or sling, wood decent, bluing 95%, bore looks like new. I don't think that gun has been fired more than once for proofing. Sights were regulated propely for windage. Hit right on at 10m, about 2" high at 25m...

Which slings would work for an M48 Yugolav Mauser?

Got an M48 from AIM, nice gun but has neither cleaning rod (small loss) nor sling (very annoying). Checked gunpartcorp, they don't have any in stock. Where might I find a sling for it? Would more common slings from other rifles (M1 carbine, for example) fit the Mauser?

First use: Advantage Arms .22 conversion for Glock 17

Fired 100 rounds of MiniMags through it. Accuracy: damn good! I got better results than froma 5.5" Buckmark. Trigger pull: very nice. Reliability: the upper was reliable, the three magazine I had with it were not 100%. The feed lips were too far apart, so I experienced about eigth stoppages...
