    Personal defense/ plinking pistol.

I've never owned a pistol before but have shot many. I would like to purchase a semi-auto pistol very soon but I have no idea what to get. I've been reading around and hear a lot about the M1911. Anyone know how much one of these will cost? And who makes the best? Please don't say Colt. Colt is...

    Just bedded my first rifle.

Well I just got done bedding my 700. I definitely used too much epoxy. The stuff went everywhere when I sat the action down in. The Dremel tool worked great for all the inletting. I used a buttload of release agent on everything, so hopefully it will come out tomorrow. I used the Bedrock kit and...

    Noticed something on Hodgdon website.

I was looking at .22-250Rem data and noticed that the max charge of H380 in every bullet weight is 41gr. Think this this is a misprint? Never seen every bullet weight have the exact same recommended max before. Have you?

    Glass bedding a 700 VLS.

I ordered a glass bed kit from Midway and was just looking for tips. I've never bedded a rifle before so this will be a first timer. Anything I should watch out for? I hope I don't screw this up. Also, I plan I bedding just the first inch and a half of the barrel just to give it some support...

    Seating on the lands.

I know there is a big debate about wheather or not this practice raises pressure signifigantly. I was just wanting you guys' opinions. I've never done it before and wanted to try it just to see what happens. I've ordered a glass bed kit and floated the barrel on my 700VLS and I'm just generally...

Powder from bottle to powder pan.

Just curious how you all get your powder from the bottle to the scale pan. Right now I dump some powder in a plastic cereal bowl, then use a 1/4tsp cooking measuring spoon to get close. Then I trickle in the rest. It works pretty good. Just wondering if there is a better way.

    Clinton Laws

So I've just been doing a bunch of reading on the whole S&W and Clinton laws and was wondering how many were still in effect. I know in Midway catalogs I read "ban was not renewed" all the time. I was also wondering about the law that said only the owner could shoot the gun. I love shooting my...

    New scope for varmint rifle.

I was looking at the Weaver Classic V 6-24x42AO. Anyone have experience with this scope? I hunt well into the eavening and have to have a very bright scope. I was just wanting more magnification. But not at the cost of brightness.

    Black Hills Brass

Anyone know who makes their brass? Can you buy Black Hills brass unloaded? My .243Win reloads love once fired BH brass and I was hoping they are just Win with a different stamp.

    Brasso in a tumbler?

So I'm digging through stuff under the sink and find this stuff called Brasso. So I go and get a really tarnished case and start wiping it with a paper towel and this stuff. Holy crap! This is the cleanest, shiniest brass I've ever seen! The paper towel is black from all the stuff it took off...

    100gr vol/equivelent weight.

Can some one tell me what 100gr vol/equilelent of Pyrodex would weigh on a scale? I think I heard somewhere around 88gr? Is there a known equation for this? Thanks guys. I just think weighing my Prodex charges would be a lot more accurate than going by volume. Maybe this should go in the black...

    Size, turn, size again.

Anyone do this per the instructions in the Lee collet die box? I've tried it and all I felt it did was give more tension when seating. I don't know how, but it does. Accuracy is the same either way. Uneccesary, time comsuming step, or are there benefits I'm overlooking?

    Redding Match-Grade 3BR Powder Measure

With with universal mertering chamber (.5 to 100 grains) $115.95. Anyone tried one of these for rifle charges? Do they throw consistent charges with short cut extruded powders? I thought only handgun shooters used these but 100 grains would be more than enough for the calibers I load for...

    Powder Dispensers.

Anyone have any experience with these? I've been looking at the PACT, RCBS, and Lyman setups. If they work well, they would save me an ungodly amount of time. I absolutely hate measuring powder. But are they accurate? Thanks guys.

    Neck Sizing

How much of the neck do you guys size when you neck size? As long as the bullet is held in place does it matter? I'm only sizing about 1/8" of the neck and it seems to work fine. No problems yet. Any of you see a problem with this?

    Small muzzleloader calibers.

I was thinking, couldn't the muzzleloading industry make, lets say, a .243" diameter barrel and use blackpowder and a regular rifle bullet? Or would it not generate enough pressure to seal the bullet? Maybe blackpowder does not have a high enough burn rate for these velocities?

    A question about case fill.

Let's say that you load two diiferent Hodgdon extruded powders to 37gr. Will they give the same case fill? What I mean is, does one granule of H4895 weigh more or less than say one granule of Varget? Do you see what I mean? If a granule of H4895 is lighter than a granule of Varget than the H4895...

    Flattened primers cause for concern?

I loaded up some 50 grain V-Max's this weekend for my 22.250 Remington 700 VLS. My Hornady data says 36.4 grains of Varget is max. Hodgdon says 37.5 is max. So I loaded 5 cartridges at 36.4 grains .060" off rifling. I also loaded 5 with 36.4 grains .030" off rifling. Of the .060" off rifling, 1...
