    I just got...SIX... 50 cal ammo boxes.....

from the closet to the safe! Even had room to spare. And that's WITH the guns and OTHER ammo already in it. DAMN that was arranged awful. :o

Best...I SAY BEST.... noise reduction muffs around?

Hang the expense. Which one is the absolute BEST in noise reduction? I've already lost way too much just a month ago from someone shooting something HORRIFIC and PORTED just 2 benches away. Were they using the concrete pipe provided by the range? NO! So.... I now have TWO hearing aids PLUS...

Not too damn wore out, is it?

This is my old FIRST gun. Got in 1949 and USED EXTENSIVELY. 512 Remington that has kilt many many rabbits, birds, squirrels, imaginary Indians, and various cans of tin. Other than a stock refinish about 20 years ago, all I've done is keep it clean and shoot it once in a while. Served...

WARNING! NEVER shoot near a muzzle brake or compensator!

I learned very early on about ear protection. I've had severe tinnitus since 40 years ago. TWO 1911s fired side by side at hip level with NO ear protection. Very ODDLY.... ;) The very next day the ringing did NOT stop as it "usually" did. Still hasn't. :( FAST FORWARD TO TODAY...... As I...

I'm having more damn fun with old Gun Digests.

I gettem off eBay and they are my preferred "potty" books. Get back in the 50s and 60s and all the articles are about the GOLDEN age of guns. "Ruger's NEW .44 Blackhawk!" "S&W Adds a New Caliber," (22 Jet) All sorts of hunting and collecting info from back before everyone needed extended...

Sure wish Ruger would bring back the 44 carbine.

With its handiness and lack of "BAD" features, I think people would FLOCK to it now. Found this on Google: http://www.rugerforum.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=105973 A composite stock could sure deal with any splitting problems if they really existed. I think this is a HUGE hole in Ruger's...

    Unintended consequence

The new anti gun laws could have an effect they never expected. The bad guys could turn to shotguns and them lawmakers would wish they had the old semi rifles back again.

Electronic muffs SNAP SHUT all the time.

I have a set of the Peltor Tactical 100 muffs that work GREAT. HOWEVER..... the headspring is SO strong and the muff mount wires SO easily moved that they continually try to "get away" from me and snap shut into the compact muffs-inside-band position. They SNAP closed with such force that...

I don't seem able to find cyl length on a Single Six.

Just got a craxy loon idea to wonder about rechambering and reboring a Ruger Single Six to 5.7x28 just for the hell of it. Would it work?

How to THINK you can disassemble a Colt Woodsman.

I recently got a prewar 1936 vintage Colt Woodsman. It shoots pretty dang good. But not PERFECT! VERY occasionally I get a FTF on a mystery basis. Sooooooo..... I get to thinking.... "Hey, I bet the firing pin has some gunk in the channel." HA! So today I switched from HiSpeeds to...

Anyone ever "open up" the port on a Ruger Mk series?

Mine seldom jams but when it does, it's always a twofer in the receiver. Like the fired case doesn't pop out right and the new round kinda goes half in the chamber with the fired case stuck over to the left side. It jammed CONSISTENTLY with truncated bullets but with any rounding of the bullet...

Ever have rampant FTF/stovepipe issues with Ruger Mk2 .22?

This may be a fluke due to ammo design (and maybe ammo age) OR Is it possible that the extremely short barrel is just not creating enough pressure to reliably function? It's the short barrel version. ANYHOW...... took it out this AM and pure frustration. Every other round was not picked up...

    357 Mag in K-frame? Probly a rehash.

I've seen this debated before. Just got some neat Altamont grips for my 6" M66 and they make me want to use it... LOTS MORE! :) But..... I've been Googling and the S&W sites all say the K-frame was developed for the 38 SPECIAL !!! Well, golly, I know that. I did find a ref that said the M66...

    I collect vintage Gun Digests

It is AMAZING how the ones from the late 50s and early 60s (and even into the 70s) have pix with so FEW shooters havin ANYTHING in their ears. Just blastin away an gettin tinnitus. As I did. :o:mad:

    Any welders here?

I don't know where to post this, so I'm putting it here. Can anyone weld up a 6 inch square and some chains that could be looped over a target frame and shot with a 22? Wouldn't have to be super durable BIG chain as I don't think a 22LR would cut it. Probably bolts and washers would be way to...

Any experience with 3M Peltor muffs?

our range officer likes his. What say you guys? Any I should also look at? :)

Should muzzle brake guns have a different location

at shooting ranges? I have compromised hearing from muzzle blast way back in 1959 when ear protection wasn't as widespread as it is now. I now use plugs and muffs together and STILL the big guns with brakes create actual pain. I hate to suggest categorizing any guns at a shooting range, but...

    5,280 FPS ???

Has anyone ever concocted a load that does a mile a second? One that could be shot and hit something? Just curious.

    Ballistic table BS !!!

I used to use BBTI for reference. Now I think I may have been pretty dumb to do so. Look at this: http://www.ballisticsbytheinch.com/38special.html 38 Spl Speer 135 gr. Gold Dot HP Colt Python 6" barrel muzzle energy 890 Ft Lbs. S & W 642 1.875" barre muzzle energy 897 Ft Lbs...
