    Savage 219 Exploded View

Anyone have an exploded view for a Savage 219, the earlier gun, not the 219L? I can find the parts diagrams, but I can't find a relational diagram.

    Cast bullets in .30-30

A few years ago I was given an old single shot Savage .30-30. I've not fired it yet, but finally got around to getting some factory ammo and reloading dies. I'm not going to use it for hunting, and will probably only shoot it very irregularly, so I'm considering just making it a cast bullet...

    Gun Auction search errors?

Anyone else having a problem with Gun Auction's search? On the home page I type "Colt New Service" into the search bar at the top and limit the search to handguns for sale. It pushes back a scrambled search parameters page that tells me I'm searching for Colt Service (it drops NEW) in...

Went to the gun store today to get dog food...

Yeah, you read that correctly, a gun store in the area sells raw ground meat for dogs and cats, and that's what I feed Mason... In any event, it was busy as all get out, primarily people using the range, but I was very surprised to see that they had probably a dozen evil black rifle type...

Rats. Missed it by that much...

Missed out on what was reported to be a very nice Colt Official Police 4" made in the 1950s. Price was good, very good if in the condition it was reported to be in. I was talking with the owner; unfortunately someone else was also talking with the owner at the same time, and he bit first...

Gun Magnet -- anyone use one?

This popped up on one of my daily deals websites. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300636591744?ssPageName=STRK%3aMESELX%3aIT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 I've been thinking about something like this for use in the house, and am wondering if anyone has tried one of these and what do you think?

    Suicidal with jealousy...

Friend of mine walked into a small gunshop that has literally had nothing of interest for him for years to find... A Smith & Wesson Model 16 6", made in 1962, in good to very good overall condition. The price? Just over $500. Don't have good pictures yet, but it looks to be a real gem... And...

Been thinking about getting a Glock again...

So, instead, I bought a Colt Police Positive Special in 32-20 a few minutes ago on gunbroker. My second Colt this year. Could be the start of a trend. I'll post some pix in a bit.

Gasses released when a cartridge is fired

Anyone know the common components of the gas that is released when gun powder burns and propels a projectile? I know it will have different characteristics based on the chemicals used to manufacture the gunpowder, but I'd think that there would be a couple of major components.

Here's something different... Australia has a Shooter's Party in New South Wales...

And they're engaging in their own debate over whether firearms should be allowed in the parks in New South Wales. Got kind of fractious, too. http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/latest/13999558/shooters-bill-deferred-after-ugly-debate/ First, I had never heard of a Shooter's Party in Australia...

Changes to Virginia laws effective 1 July

Here's a rundown of new pro-freedom laws coming for Virginia residents in July. The top three were put in at the request of Virginia Citizen's Defense League. VCDL has been incredibly effective at helping Virginia gun owners protect and expand our rights. The big one, of course? No more 1...

I just LOVE business plans that will make anti-gunners go apoplectic!

Gotta love this, a gun range that has facilities set aside for children's parties that also involve range time! http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/texas-gun-range-host-children-birthday-parties-170222318.html

The Virginia Citizen's Defense League needs your help

    Don't mean to shock anyone...

But I'm seriously considering purchasing a Glock. Yes, that's right, Mr Blued Steel Older Smith & Wesson Revolvers is considering purchasing a Glock. I'll most likely buy used, as that's what I normally do, and will probably get a 9mm, although I wouldn't turn away from either a 10mm or...

Uh oh... New push to demonize gunowners?

By connecting them to "secret militias"? I can't see the video here at the office, but the buzz words, and history, don't leave me with a lot of hope that this is going to be anything more than a guilt by association hatchet job. Secret Militias on the Rise Last time we played this game some...

Band of Brothers Buck Compton dead at 90

Won't be long before they're all gone. "Lynn D. “Buck” Compton, an Army paratrooper whose World War II service was portrayed in the book and HBO miniseries “Band of Brothers” and who later as a prosecutor secured a conviction of Robert F. Kennedy assassin Sirhan Sirhan, died Feb. 26 at his home...
