    Anyone have a CZ Bobwhite?

I'm thinking of getting one, I just don't know if it will be 28 gauge or 20 gauge. I've handled them, and really like them, but I hate taking a chance on buying a newly introduced gun without letting someone else take the plunge first. :) So, anyone take the plunge? What do you think?

FINALLY! I cleared a round of wobble trap!

Friends and I went shotgunning yesterday. We started off with sporting clays. Lots of fun, but annoying when you only get 29 of 50. Still, better than 50%, so I'm happy. We then decided to shoot a round of wobble trap. I've always been very good at it, but this time, for the first time, I went...

Finally shot some Trail Boss reloads...

in my .44 Special. All I can say is wow, this is an EXCELLENT powder! Very, very consistent sounding from shot to shot (I didn't have a chronograph, unfortunately, so I don't know the velocity) and VERY accurate. Shooting off hand at about 10 yards I was easily keeping all my shots in a 2"...

    New Press is Here!

New Lee cast iron turret press is here. A friend and I each bought one. I've not had a chance to set mine up, but I did get a chance to examine his. Lee has done a VERY nice job on this product.

Why do some threads have so many weird characters in them?

This thread in particular... http://thefiringline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=205313 I'm seeing a LOT of odd characters... TM symbols, pound sterling marks, copyright symbols, Euro symbols... Things like this... I’d “aw-chit” Denny’s and so on... In some cases entire words...

    BHP and Olympic ammo

Went to the range last night and was shooting off some Olympic (the Greek made stuff) ammo. Other than it smelling REALLY weird, I was also having the occasional failure to fire on the first strike. About 95% of the rounds did fire first strike, but about 5% didn't, and seemed to have light...

http://www.bradycampaign.org/ Jim & Sarah Brady were on the Washington Post webchat today. I just about barfed at the first couple responses. I'm going to try to pull a transcript this evening.

The hardball stuff, not the varmint rounds with the HP bullets. I picked up 2 boxes at the Wallyworld in Manassas, Virginia, this evening. It's the first I've seen it in Walmart in about 7 months.

What's in a name? A cartridge name, that is...

In another thread a side discussion got going about about the "proper" name for the .45 Colt/Long Colt, and that got me to thinking about how many different, accepted, and even official, names there have been for cartridges over the years. What we might now find odd may once have been common...

Out of state resident needs a PA driver's license for a non-resident permit???

I went to the Mifflin County Sheriff's office today to renew my out-of-state permit. I'm a resident of Virginia, and have a permit that expires today. I was informed that some of the operators at the state's hotline for permits are denying out-of-state applications if the non-resident does not...

    Trail Boss!

Finally I have in my hand a bottle of Trail Boss powder! woo hoo! I put 5 grains each of Trail Boss, 231, and AA 7 in 3 separate .44 Spl. cases. The difference is AMAZING. While I didn't measure levels, I'd have to say that the Trail Boss takes up nearly 3 times the space that either 231 or...
