What's your next rifle?

There's a similar thread in the pistol forum, and so I thought it might be fun if some forum members would post their plans for their next rifle purchases or trades in 2013. It can be centerfire or rimfire.

I'm waiting for a ruger 1A in .222 remington, and maybe a henry .22LR lever action.

Leaning toward ruger american. Just don't know how I would handle a inexpensive rifle that could out shoot my ruger mark II. Anyway looking at 308 if ammo ever hits the market again.

.

As I age, I'd like to have a lightweight, light-recoiling, rifle for Whitetail deer - the lighter the better.

I'm thinking along the lines of a .243 Win or a .250 Savage housed in TCR-83 Aristocrat Single Shot Rifle.

Open/iron sights are OK, on this Euro-type stalikng rifle.

Dang it, to late, just picked up my ruger american in 270. Could't resist it. I must went back and forth (home to LGS) five times picking it up, putting it down, up and down, last trip, my dw got all uppity and said just buy it "right Now" you know you are going to so just get it, so I did. :)

Have been looking at a 6.5x47 Lapua. Better ballistics than the 308 and where I shoot it will handle the wind better. Just finished a build and soon as I sell it...

I just got an '06 in January. I think my next long gun will be ...the .17 WSM when it comes out.
I really need to get a magnum of some caliber but I am going need help with that decision. The .340 Weatherby maybe?

I have recently moved to west Texas, where the deer are bigger ( muleys as opposed to whitetails ) and the shots are longer than I am accustomed to.

I have a Browning BLR in .308 that I am very attached to - but now I see where a second rifle, able to reach out farther with more precision is required.

Due to health issues, I cannot haul around really heavy iron, and am looking for something in 7mm Rem mag, which will reach out with authority without kicking so bad as to make practice unpleasant.

Because the bore to case capacity ratio on the 7mm Rem mag is so high, it should respond well to Magna-Porting, which will go far in taming the recoil without looking too tacky. I tried Magna-Porting on a .300 Winchester magnum some years ago, and was very favorably impressed.

My best candidates now are the Browning X-bolt Long Range Hunter Carbon Fiber, the Savage 114 American Classic, the Sako 85 Grey wolf, and the CZ 550 Medium Kevlar.

I am considering the Browning most seriously right now, but I have plenty of time to think it over. Next year's deer season is quite a ways off at this point.

I have a Nikon Monarch 4-16x42 scope on hand, for whatever rifle I decide to buy.

If I manage to save the money I'd love to have a ruger #1 or rather a used #3 in .222 rem or .223 to ream out to the .222 rem mag. And build a sweet custom. Huge fan of falling block single shots. My dad has an 85 winchester low wall in 22k hornet I've almost got him talked out of.

A second M-1 Garand, and as with the first, only from the CMP.

In the near-future ammo will be the primary objective because there are no other types of gun that I really want, besides the several types already acquired.
Even with over 7,500 rds. of centerfire ammo, you can never have too much for future use, with the irrational anti-gun, power-hungry politicians which we have on both the federal and state levels.

Not bolt, lever, or pump.

My next rifle will be a Flintlock. Either a Brown Bess or Pennsylvania Long Rifle.

Custom SS M70 in .338-06 built by Kevin Weaver of Weaver Rifles. I'll probably pick it up Tuesday as he said it would be done by the 1st of April.

I am thinking about shopping around for a beater Garand and having it turned into a Schuff's Mini-G in 308 Win. I will probably have him put the Ultimak rail and the BM59 style cylinder on it.

I have been looking around and have settled on a weatherby vanguard deluxe. It will get topped with a Leopold vxII 4-12x40 or something similar. Now I just have to decide on caliber, thinking .257wby mag or 270wby mag.

I want to replace my vintage 1950's Marlin 39a that got stolen from my dad's when I was in the Navy. Should've done it years ago, as now they're over $600.
