Well used S&W Model 10s...

Personally, I prefer the taper barrel to the HB version. Mine is a Pre-Model 10, made about in 1957 just like me. That’s right about when they started stamping Model 10 on them, but mine doesn’t have it. Over at S&W forum, it was mentioned that S&W implemented changes like that in kind of a random fashion. They knew of Model 10 marked guns with lower serials than mine.
The taper barrel makes for a lighter, fast handling revolver. I have occasionally carried mine IWB in an old Bianchi holster.
I’ve often said that if my Model 10 was my only handgun, I’d feel well armed.

finally got a s&w 10-5 k frame. pencil & pinned 4” barrel. blued. rubber grips. action smoother than butter. a little more than i wanted to pay but saved ffl fee as it came to directly on my c&r license.

here it is with its cousin, a s&w 37 3” j frame.

J&G still has Model 10s for $199. These have no barrel as they were imported and apparently no 2" barreled revolvers can be inported, or something like that. I got one and put a sawed off 4" barrel I had on it. Still have to mount a front sight.
