Sinlessorrow, thanks for the link to your friends Colt Rail Gun test, very interesting. That gun took a beating, too bad it's not "modern";)

It makes some sense, as the Marines already had some 1911s in service. By sticking with the 1911, they already have proficient armorers and trainers and a familiar, proven platform.

Also note, the contract is for new pistols and a supply of parts. So, no they aren't paying $1800+ for just a pistol.

Which "battles" would those four have been "proven" during?

I love how the USMC's MEU-SOC, which has been rocking 1911A1s for years now, doesn't know what it is doing bypassing a who's who of wannabe combat pistols suggested by random internet posters.
