Scheels in Des Moines has powder period? Out here it's still all blackpowder substitutes and that's about it. I'm getting more and more tempted to buy the $40/bottle Reloder 15 on Gun Broker.

Of course, with a road trip to Iowa in my near future, I may wait until I can hit Scheels, and every Cabelas, Bass Pro, etc. between here and there.

Went to Scheels in Des Moines IA Friday and they had a larger selection of powder than I have seen in a few months. Light on pistol powder but I did pick up a pound of Unique.

Finding Unique anywhere is a great find. I haven't seen it since last October. I'm hoping some pistol powders will become more readily available. Soon, it will be rifle powders which are impossible to find!

For my research, pistol powders are more findable than Alliant Brand powders. Gunbot can only reliably find Reloder 50.

Well, as far as the Pacific Northwest...

I mean, come on...this is getting absolutely ridiculous! NO powder, anywhere!

Has anyone heard anything? What about the Accurate Arms and Ramshot powders? Alliant? Anything at

I stopped in at a local chain store (4 locations in the area), and they had all kinds of Alliant powder in stock.

I have plenty of rifle powder to last me, but was running low on pistol powder. I was able to pick up 2 pounds each of Unique and Power Pistol. I was quite happy as these 4 pounds will last me about a year.

Those are the powders I'm looking for. I hope Midsouth gets them soon!

Waiting for Pistol Powder

Starting last spring/summer, the pistol powders started showing up in limited quantities. But by late fall, they all dried up.

And I'm still waiting.

I haven't seen a pistol powder at any of my LGS's in 6 months - easy.

It is easier to find a virgin in Vegas than gun powder in Texas.

Not only that but with Russian sanctions because of Ukraine we're bound to see a shut off of Russian primers and bullets, making things even worse.

Most of my powder supplies in the last 8 months have been from cabelas in Austin, so I guess Houston is just tough.

I was able to snag a 4 pounder of Competition from Midsouth so I've got my handguns covered for a while.

Glad to hear that you're in good shape. Maybe some of it will start making it's way south. If make it down this way, I'm the guy standing on the street corner holding the sign "WILL WORK FOR IMR POWDER"

Thats a bummer. Here in Virginia Beach, we're mostly full. I've been buying a couple pounds a month of various IMR/Alliant/Hodgdon from all 3 of my LGS's for $21-$25lb. My main store is getting in a couple 50lb shipments a week... 95% rifle powder. Any pistol powder he gets is usually bought by somebody in the store at the time he opens the box. I've got a nice little stash of IMR4895, RL15, H335, and Benchmark... should last me a very long time, or keep me stocked for trade goods during the next crisis. But yes, I'd consider giving a nut for a 4lb tub of Power Pistol.

It looks like you might want to grab a few buddies and go in on a bulk buy online... Hazmat fees suck, but if you split it over 40lbs or so, it's not so bad. I see 8lb tubs of many powders on Gunbot for $160... get 3-4 buddies to buy one each and help with shipping/hazmat fees, and you're still in the $22-$23/lb range shipped... which is what I'm seeing in my LGS's.

Winchester Small/Large regulars are $32'ish/1000 several places, and Wolf stuff is $25/1000 at every local gunshow. Remington primers are still $40+/1000 if you can find them.

I get 9mm 124gr Berry's bullets from a local guy for $70/1000, and am currently saving for a bulk 10k+ buy of .224 FMJ's to plink with... at that volume, you can get price down to .08cents/ea or a bit cheaper. Luckily I'm all set for .30cal hunting ammo... but I'm very seriously considering an AR10 toy after my upcoming deployment, it never ends.

It's getting better every month by my untrained eye... no telling what's going to happen around Sept/Oct when everybody wants to start loading for deer season and there' another run.

Has ammo-can.net been mentioned yet?

It searches (somehow) Wal mart inventory in any state by any caliber.
I tried it today and called a few stores and 7 out 10 it was correct.

Happy ammo hunting

So I'm thinking we should all drive out to crash at Sam's place for a weekend, then pick his LGS clean. Dibs on the RL-15.

I have some pistol powders still to reload but, I almost don't want to use it as I am afraid I won't be able to replace any time soon!

I stocked up on rifle powder back when you could still get military surplus powders so I am good for some time with that.

I am going to start selling 300 Blackout and 5.56mm brass soon but, worry my upstart business will suffer from lack of powders to reload!:(

Sierra Blitzking

Where are these going? They never show up in stock---unless you get lucky somewhere local. The online vendors haven't had 40 gr. 224 BK bullets for darn near ever. To my knowledge none of the ammo makers use those for manufactured ammo. What the heck? Now the 39 gr. .204 Blitzkings are non-existent.

Powder started to show on some sites, and I got lucky and stocked up for a few months worth. Hate those damn hazmat shipping profits fees. Now they are back to darn near nothing.

RecobsTargets: http://www.recobstargetshop.com/
and Gamaliel http://www.gamaliel.com/prodcat/reloading-components.asp are both good vendors and sometimes have powder and primers.

Ripoff prices. Don't buy from the gougers if you want this to end. $65 for a brick of Blazers that cost $28 at Cabelas or $24 at Wally World.

People who pay stupid prices are the main cause of the problem right now. They feed the gougers and secondary market.

If folks would simply refuse to feed the scalpers and scam artists this "shortage" of .22 ammo would end.
