Serial Number info for Winchester Model 94

That is my thinking as well

I will be in the SW USA for the winter and I will pick up some stock parts.
Here is a picture of the stock.

Trying to determine the Year of Mfg

I just bought a Model 94 30-30 recently. I am trying to determine the year that it could have been MFG. #437****

Can someone help me??

Mine is for general curiosity, This way I have a general idea of the age of the long guns that I own. The oldest I own is a 30-40 Krag which is 115 yrs old.

Hi All!

First...let me take a moment to thank all of the Vets on this forum. We owe you everything...

My uncle past several years ago, leaving a large gun collection. Several family members received guns. I have two that I think someone might want. They have been sitting in my closet for years...and I think it's such a waste.

I was hoping you could help me identify a Winchester Model 94-30 WCF.
SN# 1496368.

I have searched the links included on these pages...but I can't find that serial number?

Can someone help?

As...can you tell me a reasonable price for it...and where's a good place to sell it. I would rate it Fair to Good condition, as the Left side of the stock have a groove in it.

Identify help

I was wondering if anyone could chim in I'm trying to figure a date on my model 94 , 3030. It's pretty pitted along serial number I can't tell if it's a 5 or 6 digit number .any other way to date it ? Thanks

The transition form 5 to 6 digits in the serial number occurred in 1897. If your rifle is that old, it is indeed a classic. If it were that old, it would probably have a crescent buttplate and a round barrel (that was called a "standard rifle"). It would not say 30-30 on it, it would be marked 30 WCF. It would not say Model 94 on it, it would be marked Model 1894 (since that's what it was called). Pictures of the rifle would tell the tale.

Your Model 94 is a post-WW2 transition model, made sometime after WW2 (shown by the new "post-war" tang design) but before the "official" beginning of production in 1949 at SN 1,500,001. All in all, it's in very nice condition. Value is probably around $600-ish

The stock has had a coat of varnish, the metal has rust on it. Not "original condition" by a far stretch, but a good enough shooter. Market is going kind of soft on 94 Carbines, might be worth $500-ish.
