Anyone who is serious about making the best ammo is going to have a Chronograph. It is an essential tool to find nodes, see when the barrel needs to be cleaned, verify load recipes, etc.

I been pretty serious about reloading the last 10 years never needed one.

But I def invest in one if I started shooting at 1000 yards

There are certainly folks who reload without. One can even be serious about it. But you won't get the best results without a Chrono.
