I am going thru the same process right now as well.
Might want to consider a Browning BDA-380 or Beretta 84 Cheetah in .380-ACP.
3.80 Cartridge is just a hair smaller than the 9mm.
My limited experience with them has been very positive - not too lite/heavy, great balance, minimal recoil, easy to conceal.
Currently narrowing my choices down to these above, the Beretta 92, CZ 75
and a 1911 commander in 9mm.
