My wife and I hike put a lot of miles on Crow Pass in Alaska last year. We only saw one person go past us. I live in Utah. I highly recommend Crow Pass as a hike. One of the better hikes I've done, though the rest are all in Utah :) *Coyote Gulch or the Subway as some of the few 10s I would give.

I didn't even see so much as a squirrel in Alaska while out in the middle of no where.

I didn't regret buying and carrying bear spray from the AK Walmart (they did let me return, thank you), but I did recall how silly I felt for spending so much brain juice on what revolver I needed to get, how I was going to get it to AK, how I was going to carry it, and so on. Should have spent the time researching more interesting things.

I am not saying bears aren't there or could be dangerous, but the internet is certainly more dangerous in stoking the worry...well, dangerous to our wallets :)
