    Recoil differences

I just got a Garmin Chronograph, and tested some of my handloads as well as 10 rds of Atlanta Arms 185 match ammo. My 185 SWC gave almost exactly the same fps as the Atl. Arms, but the recoil was markedly different in that the Atl. was much sharper. I also tested some 200gr Hp, and they gave...

Target grips for SW 686 L frame

I plan on getting some decent hand filling grips for my SW 357 for target shooting. The only ones I have seen so far are from Altamont. For 45's the Nill-Griffe are my favorites, although I don't see them offering any for Sw revolvers. Ideas are welcome:cool:

Rail for Tanfoglio 45 Large frame

Being a bullseye shooter, and old, I need dots for my best work. Tube optics help with POA and getting the right stance. Most bullseye shooters shoot 1911's and that is no help. If someone knows a rail that fits the above pistol, I would appreciate knowing.

    SW vs Ruger

I have an itch to buy a blued 357 to pair with my SW 686 4 in barrel that I have had for years. The Ruger GP100 has the full shroud(?) and the SW does not. The SW is about $400 more, which is not a show stopper, but it is a caution. Any difference operationally between the two? Durability- range...

Adding to controversy on cheap 45s

I have the intention of taking a Tisas and using it as the frame for my 22 Marvel conversion, including a trigger job. I got the $329 pistol today, the only 45 I have that is priced less than $1300, and it is most certainly worth the price. tight as you could ask, not Les Baer tight, but plenty...

    Dings in finish on CZ

I have managed to chip part of the finish on my CZ 97, 45 at the rear sight due to removing the original and installing an optic plate then reversing the procedure. I think it is caracote, or something like that, black and usually a pretty tough coating. The damage is minor, but as I plan to...

    Comparisons of 1911 andCZ

I have Les Baer 1911 and CZ 97 and Tanfoglio 45's. I don't find any difference in the accuracy of these 3, although I have not had them tested on a ransom rest-I have a ransom bench rest, which is pretty good, but nowhere near the one where the "one inch groups" are tested. Does there exist...

problem with primer feed on 550

I have a Dillon 550B, and the guy I bought it from is a long time reloader, has several presses and is thought to be expert, so I am no questioning him or his techniques. That said, my press has the irritating habit of delivering an excess primer every so often, which lodges under the turntable...

    Best way to clean mags?

Do I really need to buy an ultrasonic to properly clean my 22 and 45 mags?

Failure to feed on Ruger 22/45

I have a nice Ruger, Volquartsen modified trigger. I removed the rear sight to fit a rail on it. The sight required a lot of pounding in a padded vise to remove it, but did not seem to bother any parts. When I went to sight it in, the damn thing would not feed. Before this, it fed nicely...

Value of SA vs DA pistols in Bulls eye

I have a nice Tanfoglio Stock Master bull barrel 45 which I shoot my soft loads in. It is a DA/SA action, and Tanfoglio offers a version of it that is SA only. I also shoot 1911 45, and I can see the virtue in SA. Is it worth it to get the SA/DA converted to SA? I can see less trigger...

    RMR plates for 1911

I have used Springer plates in the past on other pistols, they have set screws to hold the plate in the dovetail, whereas others rely on the pound and hope fit. Does anybody else make a set screw style optic plate for 1911's?

    Wood treatment of NilGrif grips

Nil Griff offers a very expensive oil/finish for his grips, plus it is in Germany, which makes it more expensive delivered here. Anybody have an alternative to this? For those who don't know them, they make really nice competition pistol grips.

    repairing scratch

I managed to scratch the frame on one of my new 1911's. Is there a way to cover them?

    Wear on sear etc

I have a Tanfoglio Stock Master in 45 acp. I shoot light hand loads almost 100% of the time, and really like the pistol. Lately, the trigger, which was perfect to begin with has shown signs of softening, or "less crispness " i.e. less like a 1911 trigger than when brand new. It is about a year...

    Velocity and accuracy studies?

I am a bullseye shooter, 22 and 45. Load my own, 185gr hp and 200gr hp behind VV310. Do any studies exist that compare accuracy and velocity?

    Tanfoglio firing pin

I have been shooting my Limited Master 45 with hand loads for most of the year, maybe 1500 rounds. Today I have had three failures to fire, all showing off center tiny pricks in the primer. I was unable to get one of them to retire, so I quit. This was in Berry's hollow point 185 if that...

Best cleaning practice for frame on 1911 etc

I don't have any problems with the slide and barrel, but the frame has always been a question mark, when cleaning. Right now I spray the Mil spec stuff on the parts, give them a good brushing with a really narrow brush, and gently blow the parts to see if any crud comes off. Seems like I...

Sig P220 Match Elite in 45acp

I got this gun during the early days of Covid, and have become fond of it when I shoot iron sights, it is the first one I pick up. I had my local master gunsmith do a trigger job on it and it is pretty close to a 1911 break, as much as you can get on a non 1911. Sig quit making it, and I have...

    Holosun aimpoint changed by itself

This is a first. I have Holosun red dots on several pistols, and one, a favorite, is a Tanfoglio 45. I had it sighted in and was shooting with it almost weekly, no problem. Today it was grossly out of aimpoint, I had to rotate the up/down setting almost a full rotation. The pistol has not had...
