I am picking up a lovely little Brno .22 Hornet- 1949 manufacture, but MINT- and see that there are various calibers for that projectile. Do you guys get the best accuracy with .223 or .224 projectiles?
I have been offered a 1949 Brno fox, twin triggers, MINT bore at a very good price..about $500 US. Any one have any experince of these glorious little rifles? I had a twin trigger .222 for years, and just loved it.
I vaguely recall reading that the way to test if surplus ammo is corrosive is pull the projectile, dump the powder, and "fire" the primed case at a piece of iron or steel. If you get rust after 24 hours, it is corrosive. Does that sound right? Has anyone heard of a similar test?
Lads, I added one to my 870 tonight. Flawless feed. I ran about 100 rds through the 870, and it fed without a hitch. The only draw back is that when you take the barrel off, the spring tends to shoot out of the tube at a great rate of knots. Other than that- recommended.
Another lesson- dont...
I am going to get a new barrel on my 700VS which is just starting to show throat erosion. I will get it recrowned. It already had a Jewell trigger. Is it worth getting it rebedded? I understand that the VS's dont respond greatly to a rebedding job due to the aluminium bedding block running down...
Can I have a recommendation for an off the shelf reblueing product, or is it better to go and take the barrel to the Gunsmith and get it done properly??
Lads, any idea what is causing the Marlin to occassionally try and shove two rounds in the magazine. I thought this was caused by soft action use, but that has not fiexed it. There seems to be a round on top of another one. Ideas?
