    TFL Ladies,

I've asked for opinions on a Walther PP for Mrs. Khornet, and gotten some good replies, but it just makes me think......... Mrs. Khornet is small (petite?) 5' tall 97 lb, small hands. Any recs from your experience? Pistol should be easy to carry in purse; doubt that (at first...hee hee) she'd...

    Walther PP

Free American women should be armed. Mrs. Khornet is a small lady (although she leaves a big hole behind when she's gone). And to my embarassment she doen't have a pistol. A friend has a Walther PP, German-built I beleive, in pertty good condition. When I ask how much he wants for it, he...

    More on comparator use

I use a Sinclair comparator (the one that looks like a big blued hex nut) to set my bullet seating depth. I seat with a Forster ultra micrometer seating die. Here's the problem: The seating punch doesn't contact the bullet at the point where the ogive reaches .308 dia (I'm loading .30-'06)...

    .40 S&W brass

Came back from the range with my scrounging booty: 533 .40 cases all in good shape. After sizing/depriming I began case belling, which I do very lightly with these cases. With my RCBS die I can usually feel the case rub the die walls as it enters (this is not the case with my RCBS .45 dies). I'm...

    Continued M1 accuracy saga

So far, I've been able to get my 100 yd groups down to an average 5" for 10 rounds from a rest, with an occasional 31/2" group, but usually a good group with a couple of fliers to ruin it. I've made no modifications to the rifle, just tinkered with handloads. Yesterday I wanted to clean out...

    More on M1 handloads

If you recall, I miked my 147 gr FMJBT bulk bullets and found most were below .308 dia. , usually .307. I fired two 10-rd groups from a sandbag, one with bullets selected to be .3075-.308, the other randomly selected bullets, loads otherwise identical: 748/49.5/F215 primer. No crimp. Selected...

    .30-'06 questions

Two things: I'm loading for the M1, and bought some bulk 147gr FMJBT Winchester bullets. Not satisfied with my results, I measured them. 85% mike .307, not .308. So is the .308 a 'nominal' number, or is it supposed to represent the true diameter? Selected bullets which mike .3075-.308 group much...

    Glock 29 opinions

I'm looking for a small carry pistol and prefer .40S&W or .45ACP. I looked over a Glock 29, .40 today. Quite compact and concealable, and spare mags are also easily stashed abot one's person. Anyone have experience with this pistol, good or bad? I don't have a grand to spend, but I'm not wedded...

    Docs and guns

    Glock out of battery

After some recent threads on Glock Kbs from OOB firing, I checked this on my G22. Empty, I cannot keep it out of battery, but with a cartridge in the chamber--dropped in, not picked up by the slide-- if I don't let the slide slam forward it WILL stop short of battery and only a brisk whack will...

    M1 gas leak

My M1 vents gas around the op rod. You can see the puff of gas come out under the front handguard . Prone firing in the snow there is a spray of snow thrown up. There is soot along the front 6" of the op rod. The piston head measures above the 'field reject' minimum, and the action functions...

    Biathlon rifles

Any recs on biathlon rifles out there? I see an Anschutz Fortner for over $2000 in Champion's Choice. Anything more affordable that still shoots well?

    Resizing

The Official Word is that rifle cases for autos, pumps, and levers shoud be full-length sized, while for bolts you can neck size if desired. Measuring my .30-'06 brass with a gauge, I find that fired cases still fall within spec both in my 03A3 and my M1, whether military or commercial brass...

    M1 gas cylinder

My rear ring of the gas cylinder is tight to the barrel at the 9:00 to 6:00 postion as viewed from the muzzle. I'd like to open it up so it doesn't touch. How tricky is this? Also, the cylinder is a bit loose in the splines........should I try to peen them? I get consistent flyers, a nice group...

    M1 glass bedding

Anyone ever done this themselves? I've glass-bedded several bolt rifles without problems but never an M1. Doesn't look too complicated. Does this disqualify it for matches?

    Stevens Favorite

My daughter has a lovely Stevens Favorite, single shot falling block .22. I found a nice tang sight for it but can't find mounting screws. Any ideas? It's the perfect rifle for a young miss, classic and slender. I could see her in riding habit or Annie Oakley style dress, long blond tresses...

    G22 holster recs

My carry permit should be in soon. I'm a lefty who will carry a Glock 22. I wear a jacket and tie on the job usually. I'd prefer a small of the back or inside the waistband carry in back (is that Mex style?). Any recs as to the best holster?
