I see quite a few threads about the 642 as a carry gun, but very rarely see mention of the 640. I know there is a few ounce weight difference, and a 1/4 inch length difference, but the all stainless steel 640 seems ideal. I just wondered why so few people seem to have the 640 with its 357mag...

At the range for my S&W 640 I use 38 spl, but when loaded for self defense carry I use 357 mag HP's. With this 2" barrel revolver, is there much difference in effectiveness between the two rounds when used for close-in self defense?

Anyone have any experience with Smart Carry holsters? They look like they'd be more comfortable than other IWB holsters, but I'd sure like to hear from someone who has tried it before I order one. I'm thinking of using for my Kimber Ultra Carry II or my S&W 640.
