    Best bang for the buck!

This question was posted on another forum and since I like gun stuff I thought I’d bring it over here. So what was your best “bang for the buck” rifle that you bought? I’m going to rank my top buys! #5 Pre 64 FWT custom rifle that I found in a pawn shop chambered in .280 Rem with a Leupold...

New to me EW in .270 Win!

Just got to get out and shoot this thing now. The scope will not be staying on it but it will work for now, it is just too large and heavy to be paired with this rifle permanantly. The stock feels like a club compared to my McMillan Edge but it still balances and points well.

    Edge vs. EW

I recently put a .30-06 FWT into an McMillan Hunters Edge inlet for FWT barrel and blind mag, and recently purchased a lightly used EW in .270 Win. Hands down I love the feel of the Edge much better. The B&C just feels kind of like a club compared to the svelteness of the Mickey. I guess the...

Phase one almost complete! First LW Hunting rifle.

I doesn't have the scope on it I want (VX3 2.5-8X36), but it will do for now. Winchester M70 FWT .30-06 SS Classic, McMillan Hunters Edge blind mag stock, Talley LWT low mounts, Leupold VX-II 3-9X40. Now I'm just waiting on the matching .338-06 to be built and I'll be ready for anything...

FAIL! Attempted to web my stock

However I'm not sure I'm upset with the results, the paint just never got thick enough to make a webbed pattern. I was a little bored with my .35 Whelen's gray stock, I had tried selling this rifle a couple of times to fund other projects but never got a serious buyer, and it went to auction...

I posted this on another forum but wanted to share here.

Calling Scorch and other Mauser guys!

I came across a sporterized Siames Mauser in 8X50 R. It is a poor job but can be saved as a rifle in another chamber. I know several rimmed rounds can fit in this action I'm thinking a .30-40 Krag AI or the obvious .45-70. I've been looking as well at Garry Reeder's cartridges based off the...

Savage Anschutz deal or no deal?

In my quest for a .22 LR bolt action I stumbled across a Savage Anschutz 164 Sporter with Vari-X III 4.5-14X40 AO today for $750. Good deal or not? I would rate the wood and metal at 90% or better.

    Mossberg 44 U.S. Property

I'm in the market for a target .22lr to use at a local indoor range. I started out looking at the Savage Mark II FVT, but just didn't care much for it. So I'm looking still for a target rifle I can't find one of these local so I'll have to rely on everyone else to tell me if these are good...

The way to open a season!

My buddy has had an awesome opening season in Colorado. He has been goat and bear hunting this last week I'm still waiting for him to come down from the mountains to give me details. He found this guy on one of his several scouting expiditions. Then he hammered this big billy on opening...

    Torn Between Two Rifles!

I'm looking at a couple of rifles but for different reasons. One is a custom .250 Savage and the other is a new Ruger AW in .358 Win. Rifle 1 I got to hold this rifle the other day and it is pretty spendy but I sure the owner would cut me a better deal if I ask. It feels amazingly light and...

I'm not done yet but I'm getting closer all the time. Sorry for the bad cell phone pics! I started this build a while back and it has slowly been coming together here is what I have so far. Stevens 200 CF action .243 Win 26" Heavy Varmint McGowan 1:7 twist Stockade tactical bolt handle...

    New Switch Barrel Design!

If Bergara gets this rifle to market and it shoots well Savage might have some competition. At least they seem to have put more thought into the rifle than T/C put into their new Dimension rifle. I just wonder how closely the finished product will match the prototype and if they can price...

    Purchased a Pre-64 M70 Custom today.

Serial number dates it to a 1958 M70 action most people are guessing it was originally a feather weight as it has aluminum bottom metal. Scope is a Vari-XIII 2.5-8X36 I at first thought it was a VX-III but it is in my favorite power range from Leupold so it is a keeper. Stock best guess is a...

Need info on a Century Arms sporter rifle

I found a basically NOS (I guess) sporter today in 7.62X39 built by Century Arms on a 95 action. It was in a checkered wood stock and the bluing was worn on the barrel from being in the rack for so long. The store owner seemed very disappointed in it when I asked him about it, said he thought it...

    If you could would you?

It looks like a division of Lockheed has built a successful smart bullet . I guess it is laser guided and can hit a target over a mile away and reaches 2400 fps. It is about 4" long so all of you short action lovers will have to get over it. Anyway they say they want to develop it for...

    Its about time!

For all of you looking to purchase a new rifle scope it looks like Leupold has pushed the tech down finally. The new VX-2 has finger adjustable turrets, and is available for the CDS dial, and I would imagine they have the old VX-III lense coatings. It appears as well they pushed the old VX-II...

I found an orphan that needed a home today,

I'm just trying to figure if I'm fostering or adopting right now. Rem Mod 700 .35 Whelen B&C Stock I've already got a rifle in this chambering and don't know if I need another. She weighs 7.07 lbs according to my fish scale as you see it so loaded and with a scope should be...
