How many of you have come full circle?

Like most of you, I started with a .22 LR and over the years have owned and shot a wide range of guns and calibers. Lately, I have yearned to return to my first love, the .22LR. I have reached a point where, as of today, if I could only own one caliber, it would be a .22LR........Of course, I...

    High Standard Double Nine Safety

I have a High Standard Double Nine W-100 .22 LR. My 21 year old daughter loves shooting it, but I was wondering about the safety of it. Specifically, does the hammer rest against the case and if it was dropped would it fire? I have always been partial to Ruger's transfer bar system and am...

How to tap the front sight over

I have a Remington Model 512 .22 LR that is shooting to the right. The front sight is in a dovetail and needs to be tapped over to the right, but it won't budge. What is the best way without damaging something?

    What should the army do?

The Army is planning to get away from their Beretta and Sig 9mm, opting for more knockdown power and more reliability. This according to a story on Fox News. A revolver would be more reliable and a .454 Casull would have more knockdown power. Just an idea.

    Ruger one hole sight

Is anyone familiar with the Ruger one hole peep sight from Warren Outdoor Products? Apparently it can be mounted on a Ruger Blackhawk. Some who have used them say it improves accuracy and speeds up target acquisition.

    Shooting a handgun for fun/hunting

If your not shooting to develop your personal protection skills but more for the fun of it or to hone your hunting skills, what range do you shoot from? I shoot a Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt, and don't like to shoot any closer than 20-25 yards. At this range, on a good day, I will shoot a 5 shot 5...

One bad round out of 100

My son was shooting .45 acp reloads when he encountered a malfunction. He squeezed the trigger and there was a "Millisecond" delay before it fired and the bullet hit extremely low. I have loaded several thousand rounds of various calibers using Lee dippers. and have never had this happen. I...

    Rifle stock ID

I found a rifle stock at an antique store complete with the butt plate, trigger guard and barrel screw. It appears to be for a single shot .22. I thought it would fit a Remington model 514 that I have but it doesn't. It is made of walnut and only cost $16.00, so I didn't mind taking a chance...

    Removing lead from forcing cone

What is the best way for removing lead from a Ruger Blackhawk forcing cone? Right now I am running a "toothbrush shaped" bronze bush across it. Is there an angled reamer I could use that would remove lead and not metal from the gun?

What can I do about this dilemma?

I used to own a single shot .308. I always necked sized only for it. I still have about 50 rounds loaded for it and am some day planning to get another .308. Is my only option to pull all the bullets , tap out the primers and full length size?

Cast lead .45 acp vs .45 colt What's the difference?

Missouri Bullets shows a 200 grain rnfp .45 acp sized to .452 with a brinnell hardness of 18. They show a .45 Colt 200 grain rnfp sized to .452 with a brinnell hardness of 12. Both show a crimp groove. These bullets appear identical except for the hardness. I assume that both will fire just...

    Winchester vs s&b brass

I picked up some Winchester and s&b brass at the Police range and after cleaning, inspecting the primer size and depriming, I primed all of them with a Lee hand primer using Winchester primers. The Winchester brass ranged from very easy to very difficult to prime. The s&b brass all took a fair...

If I bought a slingshot, we would run out of rocks.

Now that I am ready to start reloading .45 acp, there is no handgun powder. I keep checking online but no luck. Has any one seen any businesses getting any in? I found a site called Gunbot which monitors what ammunition and reloading components various places have in stock. Are there any...

What about these powders for .45 acp?

I'm almost out of Unique, Universal, and Trail Boss. I have almost 2 lbs of Blue Dot and 1 lb of Power Pistol. I've seen some data for these in .45 acp but do any of you have any experience with them? I don't want any hot loads but I guess a moderate load wouldn't be bad. They will fired from...

    Ruger sr 1911 for graduation

I bought a Ruger sr1911 .45 acp for my son for graduation and am wondering what a good plinking factory load would be? As a reloader as well, what would a good reload be? I have reloaded for my .45 Colt Blackhawk but never .45 acp.

    Explain this malfunction

My son's ar15 has around 300 rounds through it and after firing 50 rounds recently, we heard a "click". We continued to aim downrange for several seconds and then ejected the magazine. We couldn't switch to "safe" but the trigger seemed like it was on "safe" and the charging lever couldn't be...

    Lost a shooting buddy

My oldest son died tragically a couple of days ago. He and I didn't see eye to eye on many issues as he was very liberal and I am very conservative. Nonetheless, we always enjoyed our times of shooting together, though they were too few and far between. Though I have always shot a lot more...

    What caused this?

I loaded some pretty hot .45 Colt loads for my Blackhawk and after firing them I noticed 5 out of 10 had what looked like double primer strikes. It was a 355 grain bullet with H110 and Winchester primers. The second "dimple" was not as deep. In some cases the 2 strikes were touching and in...

Do jacketed bullets create more pressure?

I have 3 Ruger only loads that I shoot through my Blackhawk. 300 grain JSP with 22 grains of powder which creates around 30,000 pressure. 325 grain cast lead with 21 grains powder which creates a little over 20,000 pressure. a 357 cast lead with 19 grains powder which also creates a little...
