I checked out a "pistol" with arm brace in the gun store.

OMG! It's really not much different than my SBR! I understand it's not legal to shoot from the shoulder? Do they make folding or easily detachable arm braces?

This just felt right to me so I traded for it yesterday. Will shoot today and report back.

    milled vs. stamped AK

Yesterday a guy was arguing stamped is stronger, that milled can crack. I'd always heard stamped is weaker allbeit lighter and cheaper. So what's the truth?

    Valmet M76

Opinions? Mags are expensive and hard to find. Milled Galil seems better. I have a milled m62 in 7.62x39 but my range has stupid rules against it on the plinking range I like to use. I think it's because idiots bump fire their aks over the berm causing problems.

    223/5.56 AK and derivatives

What are some good ones? I have a Galil I really like. Milled, accurate, and very high quality.

    223/5.56: underrated or overrated?

It's amazing what people are doing with them these days. State of the art rifles are amazing compared to it's earlier days. Ditto ammo, perhaps even more so. But it still does what it was designed to do, take something out of action out to 500 yards or so. Maybe people are prone to push it...

What's your most accurate AK (or AK derived) rifle?

Please no semantics wars over what's an AK or what's not. Mine is my pre-ban Valmet M62 with wooden buttstock and cheese grater fore end. It looks like this: It has a great peep sight.

AR popularity on Alaskan shows such as "Life Below Zero"

There are many such shows showing subsistence lifestyle in Alaska. I'm surprised to see so many ARs on these shows. So much for them being useless for hunting. I'm getting tired of hearing that crap (even though hunting has nothing to do with the 2nd amendment).

Should this forum be split into one for bolt and one for lever rifles?

Pump can just go to general (like single shot) there are so few. Those who want to see both can still do so, just in different forums. Those who don't care about one or the other don't have to. Just like semi autos.

What range does the military sight in ACOGs?

Just curious since there is a big difference in 25 to 100 yards and of course beyond but the "beyond" is taken care of by the reticle. I love my SCAR 5.56 with ACOG. I can shoot ragged holes @ 100 with MK318 which I've personaqlly never done before with any rifle.

    removing light flecking

What's the best thing? This is really light flecking, hardly visible. It's a Marlin 39 from the 50's and I don't want to attack the bluing.

    Bushmaster

Once there was the ABC rule for buying an AR, Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt. Lately it seems Bushmaster seems to be looked at as lower quality. What changed other than many more manufacturers (and were most extreme high quality)? I have one with a free float 16" barrel which I like the balance...

    plinking observation on velocity

Yesterday I shot some cans with my 45 Colt Uberti 1860 Henry. It made them jump. A little. Then when it was time to clean up I pulled out my Daewoo K2 and blasted the cans up over the top of the berm. I've observed with other calibers that velocity is the key to destroying and/or really...

no 357 ammo at Academy? Really?

lots of assorted 38 special, 1 box of high $ Hornady 20 round defense 357 I asked the young dumb clerk why and his answer was they don't sell any guns that use it, never mind the twenty somthing other less popular calibers they had on the shelves for which they haven't sold a gun so chambered...

    the fallacy of long range

Faster. Flatter. Heavier. More accurate. More this, more that. It's a natural force easy to succomb to. Taken to it's natural progression we lovingly lay our .50 Barrett into our Hummer, fill up a few times to arrive at our destination to take aim at a target silhouetted against the...
