Do you buy/build/collect items for activities in which you don't participate anymore?

I find myself with less opportunities to shoot, but more money to buy stuff than in the past. My real favorite pass time was coyote hunting, followed up by pig hunting. Since I moved to Washington from Texas, I don't hunt anymore. As I'm acquiring items for my gun related stuff, I still find...

How long will this fancy bolt last .... Sharps

So I bought it because someone else on the forum had mentioned in the past.... Supposed to solve the problems that occur when a person never cleans their rifle or doesn't have a chance. My 300 bo build was under budget, so I decided to splurge on this bolt. I usually don't get into all the...

    Another surprise from Anderson

This is the most pristine BCG that I've purchased. It's nitrided of course, bought it to try it out like many Anderson parts and I will probably like it too. I didn't like the Anderson trigger that I tried last year, it was a piece of crap. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does .300 Blackout really need a muzzle device??

All parts except the BCG and muzzle device have been ordered or on hand to build my 300bo upper. I'm guessing that some of the benefits are less flash and blast. So to those of you that know, is a brake even needed? Not cheaping out, but it would shave weight.

Ok, pistol AR Question again... Barrel possession.

Ok in looking at building a 300bo pistol to go with my 5.56mm I was just gonna use my existing pistol lower and build another upper. Found the barrel I wanted but wit this disclaimer: As it doesn't specifically say you can posses a barrel with a pistol lower, now I'm wondering if I should...

Pistol Dueling was Once an Olympic Event 110 Years Ago

http://www.outdoorhub.com/news/2016/08/17/pistol-dueling-olympic-event-110-years-ago/ Short article, not too much information. Doesn't really say how it ended. I had no idea that this was a sport, but now that I know, I'm interested more about it. I guess you have to trust your opponent. Any...

Anti-gun video that is strangely interesting.

I saw this video today, ignore the anti-gun dribble.... The video shows an illegal gun shop in Pakistan. Pretty sure that they are refurbishing military surplus and not actually building them. I thought it was interesting that they were using and old drill press as a reloading press...

    More Seattle shenanigans: gunshot locators

I'm not sure if these work, or have any real effect on crime. I heard about them being used in California. I get the technology, I'm a techie person. I'm concerned about cost and invasion of privacy. Seems more like an investigative tool, since the crime is already committed at the time of...

WA state SBR build soon to be legal?

https://www.guntrustlawyer.com/2015/05/washington-wa-what-nfa-firearm-1.html Ok stumbled upon this looking up something else. Basically it's saying that in July 2016 you can apply for and build an SBR in Washington state. Does anyone know if this is true and can I turn a pistol into an SBR...

Fresh off of the vise block

Borrowed lower from a 16" gun... But I wanted to shed the m4 stock anyway 24" .223 Wylde phosphate finished Stainless steel. Carefully lapped Rainier upper PSA enhanced polished trigger New Mueller sport dot 3-9x40 (may get a higher end scope if the barrel proves itself)

"ANOTHER" AR Barrel length Question for Max Velocity 20" or 24"

Ok, now that I discovered that I can varmint (coyote) hunt with .223 I'm building a coyote hunting upper and I'm stuck on the choice of barrel length. I realize that the extra length will not return any accuracy gains over a shorter barrel, but I want as much velocity as I can get for .223...

AR receiver lapping... It's been eating me

Ok, I have a receiver just laying around... A slow build I guess. I've been considering lapping the receiver face but some info is spotty. It makes sense to have a nice square face but also been thinking about the potential for corrosion, especially since it will probably be Stainless. 7075...

Ok... So I lied... And so it begins, again!

I swore and meant it when I said I'd never build another AR. Well I lied. However, I'm not sure what it's gonna be yet. I'm tossed between a .223 varminter or a .300BO. I'm not going to load my own so all the other choices don't really make a lot of sense to me at the moment. I'm not going NFA...

Who knows why the Post Office doesn't have "No Guns" signs anymore?

I've noticed a "conspicuous" lack of no guns allowed signs on the entrances of post offices. There was a time when they were quite visible, now they are gone. They do have "No Cell Phones" posted on most every interior wall of the lobby and quite a few "No Pets" signs...but absolutely nothing...

ALG QMS great trigger for the price shout out

Since my AR pistol turned out to be more than a fun blaster and I didn't really like the Anderson trigger so much, I decided to try out ALG. Very crisp and the pull seems much lighter than my others. I touted CMMG as the best milspec trigger but now I must say the ALG QMS is better

    Franken BCG for Franken Upper?

More of just a curiosity question than anything. Have any of you successfully pieced together a BCG from parts of differing sources. I may piece together a spare 20-24" upper just to have around while prices are low. And as a method of spreading the cost out potentially assembling the bolt...

Seattle proposes tax on guns and ammo

http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/politics/seattle-city-council-president-proposing-tax-on-gun-sales/ Because cities routinely tax items that harm people; the Seattle council president is proposing a tax on guns and ammo sales. Also they wish to impose fines on people that don't report...

    Bulk Kydex source?

After searching for specific holsters for specific situations and never being fully satisfied... I feel that I have enough tinkering skills to make my own. Does anyone know a good source of Kydex? I've looked on amazon and it's available, but I want to see if there's other options.

    More buffer stuff

Anyone ever use tungsten BBs in their buffers instead of weights? I have read about people using tungsten powder, but not BBs Can buy this stuff cheaper than buffers.
  20. R

Answer Me this. Carbine length gas system: different barrel lengths.

So the tribal knowledge says that 16" barrel and carbine length gas system is over gassed. Needs a heavier buffer everyone says. 14.5" barrel and such with a carbine gas system is more optimal. This might suggest that a standard carbine weight buffer is good to go. Makes sense by virtue of the...
