    Bubba'd No.1 MKIII

I've got a chopped Lee Enfield that was made in 44. I already know it's not worth much and will be worth even less when I'm done with it:D. The odd thing (to me anyway) is it has a four digit serial number. Any thoughts on that? Yeah, it's been painted  It doesnt show clearly but it...

    Hawken build update

It's getting there. Commentary is from the builder. lots of sanding done, some serious shaping taking place. This is all 60 and then 80-grit work, BTW, which is the stage at which the polish left by sharp chisels and gouges is ground away, and the polish to come from progressively finer sheets...

    another gift

Another bud gave me this CCH 58 Pietta. Brand new in the box, still in the oil soaked plastic bag. I don't think it had even been out of the bag til last night. Pics don't do it justice. The CCH is beautiful and the laser checkering is top notch. The grips aren't as fat as regular blued 58's...

    My new brasser

A buddy on another forum gave me this .36 Remington Navy after my guns were stolen. Made in 78 with a capital P over a capital R and FIE on the butt and a three digit serial number. PR is a new one on me and the bluebook site is no help, neither is google. Haven't shot it yet but won't be long...

    Hawken build

I'm having a fairly accurate Hawken being built off of blueprints. It's not going to be perfect down to every last detail but will be closer to an original Hawken than any production gun. Thought y'all might like to see what's been done so far. This is the grade 3 curly maple stock blank cut to...

    Oddity?

A bud of mine on another forum came up with this 12 gauge shotgun marked Hopkins & Allen. Now this is undoubtedly a new gun, not an original H&A. H&A never made a muzzleloading shotgun. I can't find anything about it on the net and I can usually find most anything. Has someone resurrected the...

Why I don't shoot black powder

Credit goes to to Boston John Doucette. I'd been looking at a pretty, brass-framed BP revolver in the case at Shattuck's Hardware for a couple of months, and boy! Was I ever proud the day I went in and plunked down the money for it! Eleven dollars in one dollar bills... and eighteen dollars in...

    My bad it was Germany

The last thread got closed because of a snopes debunking where I said it was on the news Obama refused to visit wounded soldiers in Afghanistan. I was mistaken as I didn't hear the whole broadcast. It was Germany where he refused to visit wounded soldiers. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25866166/

    Lead Alloys

This was posted on the SASS forum. I thought it would be useful here. Take look at the part on stick on wheel weights. They're closer to pure than I thought at 99.5 % with a BHN of 6. Pure lead has a BHN of 5. Plenty soft enough for bp balls, bullets and minies...

    Hey Pohill

You mentioned a 51 Navy Prototype in .40 that's at the Connecticut State Library. I looked but couldn't find a pic of it. You don't happen to know where I can find a pic of said revolver do you?
