Your preferred GLOCK

NOTE: I don't talk crap about your non-Glock choices, refrain from talking crap about Glock being a person's choice.

Glock has been my Go-To pistol since 1985 when I purchased a used G17.

I have owned many different models since '85, and today my preferred Glock pistols are long slide G34 9mm, and G41 .45ACP. The grips are long enough for my XL hands, and the long sight radius is great once enhanced night sights are installed.

What is your preferred Glock pistol?

With the caveats that I have only ever owned one Glock and do not currently one one . . . . I'd say the G19. I thought I would love the G48, and with some Shield 15 round mags and a little time, I might end up liking the G48 more than the G19. That said, I did not love shooting the G48, so I'll stick with the G19 as my preferred Glock.

ETA: Oops. I forgot about a G30S. I've owned two Glocks, but that doesn't change my answer. And the G19 that I had was a Gen 4.

Gen 5 Glock 19. I also very much like the original fat Glock 30. Not the SF, Not the S the OG chunky monkey G30.

Have shot many over the years, all other peoples, never warmed up to them.
Just something about that springy thingy in the trigger.

Just for the record Glocks are not my go to but any shooter with even a modicum of gun knowledge and any intellectual honesty would be hard pressed to give somebody crap for choosing Glock as their go to. I mean pound for pound they might be the best defensive arm one can buy when weighing all factors from price to reliability to durability to history etc.

Again not my specific go to and like any tool has plenty of pros and cons and individual preferences but certainly won’t ever hear me give you crap over Glock.

I carried some sort of Colt 1911 for over thirty years until an old hip injury objected to the weight. Went to a G19 and have never looked back. I shoot once a week, usually 100 rounds at a time but have cut back a little due to the "troubles", and haven't had a bobble. I also like my 3rd gen G21SF for a truck gun.

I had the typical 1911 owner's prejudice against them but now I'm a fan.

I would not say no to a G19.

I’ve traded away g17, g26 and tried to like a g22 long slide race gun but I just could not love it. It’s gone.

G19 seems about the right size for my knockin’ around purposes. Big enough to aim, small and light enough to carry.

My regular carry is a 43X. I see no reason to ever change...short of the sale of Star Trek phasers. Just got a 43X for my son.

G19 and G29, I may add a G30 to the mix one day. I have grip sleeves for both and have the option of using the full size magazines or more compact mags depending on how much I need to worry about concealment. I've had both the comparable full size G17 and G20 and the extra 1/2" of barrel didn't make them any more accurate for me so I let the bigger brothers go.

I have no one preferred Glock. If so, there would be little need to own several.

I'll only say the 43 is my "preferred" carry. The others each serve a purpose.

Glocks are not my favorite nor my go to gun, but I currently own 6 of them and plan to get at least 2 more. Out of what I own now, the Gen5 G22MOS is my favorite.

I have had and been able to shoot a number of glock's of the years. G22, G17, G23, G19, G26, G43, G42. Not comprehensive but a reasonable selection.

Your question begs a question. Preferred for what? EDC, Duty use, Competition, home defense etc....

For EDC, my current choice is a P365. There is no glock that I am aware of that is similar enough in size and capacity that would fit my needs. And based on my experiences with the G43 and G42, I will not be looking to Glock for sub compact carry guns.

Home defense. G19. It can accept extended mags and has good capacity with fit mags. Also it could flex into EDC depending on your needs as it conceals fairly well although it is a touch on the large side for my taste.

Duty/Competition. G17. IMHO it is too large for EDC. Yes it can be done, I have done it, it is far from ideal. It is a duty belt or competition gun. It probably would also be reasonable for a home defense / range gun. But I prefer the form factor of the 19.

Those are just kind of my thoughts based on my experiences and personal preferences.

First, the 9mm.

Second I'm not a fan of the scrunched up finger grooves on the 19 but do like the overall size.

Third, the Glock 34 is the best handgun ever built. :D

Funny thing is I have never really been a GLOCK fan, but somehow became drawn to the G26. I've always said it is the small gun that shoots like a larger gun. Also, the number of magazine options make it a very versatile carry gun. I also have a G20 because I wanted something in 10mm. For me they don't generate the emotional attraction like a nice 1911 or classic revolver, but as I've said before they are the Toyota Camry of the gun world and that's not a bad thing.

My gen 3 G18. Because at 1300 rpm it’s a ton of fun
