Would you trade a Ruger Service Six 4 inch for a 3 inch S&W 65?

I think it depends on the intended use. Personally, I'd go with the Ruger for target shooting and every day carry around the ranch, but for concealed carry, I'd go with the S&W

Is the Ruger stainless also?

Depending on your use, either could be the (slightly) better choice. But, as has been mentioned, in pure current value, it's a no brainer, the 3" 65 wins.

Now, if it were between a 2 3/4" Speed Six and the 65, it would be alot tougher choice. I have both and, really can't decide which I like better.

AND I now have the S&W 65-6 to. Paid only $438, tax included, for the S&W.

Now one can find a Ruger Service Six for maybe $400-450.

And thus if I had traded it would have been even.

Do note.. I hate those rubber stocks. The S&W will get wood soon!

Yep! And I saw a dang "LadySmith" .357 65-5 with firing pin on the hammer, case hardened hammer and trigger, 3 inch bbl. But the $650 price tag is, well, not worth the candle. It had real good wood boot grips but still, six fifty is just not in the cards now.
