i often hunt on a very large piece of tightly controlled federal property. Hunters must be off the range NLT than one hour after sunset. Sometimes that does not leave time to drag a pig or deer out of the woods. A few times i have left field dressed deer and hogs overnight on that property.

If it becomes necessary to temporarily abandon an animal; my coat is thrown over the animal and i also urinate on the animal. Never had a kill disturbed after doing that.

Try setting up on the gutpile after field dressing an animal. i've killed a lot of coyotes that way.

Oddly enough, my recently deceased ranch neighbor suggested chupacabra or a cougar. He said that he had seen both, but he was a closet alcoholic and I think he just 'thought' he saw them. He said that he saw the cougar in his very large Oak tree in the front yard while he was mowing the lawn. Right....

I do miss him though. It was fun listening about all the stuff he saw on his property. He never saw Bigfoot though.
