So maybe that's what happened.

I'll clean the BCG, bolt and firing pin and repeat.

I am new to the AR platform and it is not very clear to me what I should be lubing: I guess only the outside of the BCG per what I have seen so far.

Parts that interact with other moving parts should have lube.
But, Excess oil can act as a damper, or slow down the firing pin, especially if the viscosity is high.
Lighter parts can exaggerate that effect.

Some guns can tolerate oil on the firing pin, others do not.
