Salt&Batt....try the load I showed above. It could not hurt.
This load is not a high pressure load, and a newly made Mitchell's import is a good strong action. I am betting it will work for you.

My experience with most military 8MM barrels is that they shoot the bullets of 180 grains and heavier better than the 170 RN bullets or the 150 grains.

Thanks Jim Watson. I looked it up and you are 100% correct. The 8MM Hungarian is the one that bullet was made for.
I just learned something.

Yes I guess they could. The 318 used .330 bullets, but like firing a 308" through a .310" bore, the flow of metal from the barrel land cuts grooves into the bullet and flows into the "high spots" of that bullet probably would seal well enough.
I have never loaded any 318 WR, and Woodleigh makes bullets for the 318 at .330", but I am sure you are correct. I have read that the bullet size was .330" but I'm sure the German .328" size would work in a pinch.
