Stock grips on M25. Sacrilege or improvement?

Just for fun I got some stock grips for my M25.

I like them better than the target grips.

More "classic-er" :)

Whatcha think?

I kept the target ones too.

Just in case. :D

For some reason I can't get TWO attachments to work.

So here:

It looks good! I keep the rubber grips on mine because they fit my XL hands better, but the wood sure looks better.

The magna stocks are preferred by many
including myself.

Often the Tyler T Grip Adaptor or a version of
it is added.

For many hands, the so-called target stocks are
just too large, even clunky though they look good.

I have the stock grips and Tyler adapter on my HEII, and it works OK, but prefer the Eagle Heritage coke bottles on my Model 22.
I didn't like the factory magnas even with a Tyler.

What engineering change version is your Model 25? I prefer S&W wood stocks, but that set does not seem to fit the display box.

Beautiful set of stocks High Valley Ranch.

Your gun - you do what you want...

I prefer the oversize target grips that came with your M25.
IMO - you did do the right thing though to hang onto them. Good job.

HighValley, thanks.

I did get the attachment in the OP but it's not very noticeable.
I have a pair of rubber Pachmayrs also but they don't fit me well.

I have smaller hands.

Part of the change is for "tradition." I just like the classic looks of the smaller ones and NO they don't fit the box.

But I can arrange for a good fit whenever I want with a screwdriver. ;)

Actually, I've seen them come originally with both types of grips.

I might have retained the "target" ones if they had been the checkered instead of smooth.

But I shoot both ways just fine. :)

As mentioned above try a Tyler T Grip with your standard stocks as it makes all the difference in shooting comfort. The T is a bit pricey today but still available.

I'd agree with this in spades. The smaller magna type with a grip adapter fit my hands to a T. Far better than any of the oversize S&W target grips supplied for the past 30 years or so. The earlier version "Coke Bottle" target grips fit me far better but still not as well as the magnas with a grip adapter.

Btw I buy size "L" gloves for what it is worth. Without the grip adapter, the magnas leave a large space behind the trigger guard that make maintaining a consistent grip all but impossible for me. YMMV, Rod

I always thought Magna's look a little small on N-frames, but if you like them, no reason not to use them. I admit they don't feel bad at all. With Magna's I do like a grip adapter, in either N or K frame.

My favorite grip is the Smith & Wesson Presentation grip. The look of the target grip, but thinner and slightly longer.

On a Model 18-4

The T is a bit pricey today but still available.

There is also the "BK" grip adapter available. About $30.00 or so. About the same thing as a T-grip, but made from a rosin that work just fine. You can do a search for "BK grip" and find them.

Best thing about them is you can order them online, and have them in hand in a day or two.

Ditto on the
BK adaptors.

I have them as
well and get them
in a day or two.

Tyler T takes weeks
and months some
times.

Bob Wright, are those M25's in your post?
The cylinders look too long for 45 ACP. They look like M29 44 mags.

I didn't know Tyler made an adapter for the N frame. Will think about that.
I wouldn't use the small grips on most N frames but the 45 ACP recoil is so negligible that it seems to work fine for me.

I did put Tylers on my Colt Detective Special.

What an ordeal. Missed emails and months for delivery.
No good.'

Hadn't heard of BK grips. May try that black one for the N frame.

Then again...it's only a maybe.

OP, since your M-25 has a target trigger and target hammer; target grips seem like the natural match. But, if you prefer the Magnas, go with it.

Another consideration is that the smaller grips don't poke so far out of your pocket when you carry it unobtrusively in your Levis. :D
