Springfield XDE

All of my want for it just disappeared. Was hoping for a mid-full size.

In a market with the XDs, Shield, and G43, I don't see why they think this thing will do all that well.

Isn't this more of a mid-size? 5" high, nearly 7" long sounds more G19 than G43 to me. Except for the single stack 1" width, this sounds like a mid-size belt carry option rather than a pocket pistol.

It's the same barrel length as the XDS9, and same height as the XDS9 with the extended mag. Holds 8rnds flush fit, and 9rnds extended. And it's 1/2" longer OAL than the XDS9. So in other words, it's bigger in every way than the XDS9 and holds the same amount of rounds.

Would've loved Springfield for once if they would've done a full size polymer 17+ round hammer fired 9mm. But again, they disappoint.

"Something new that makes some people happy and not me? Springfield sucks!!"

Tough crowd!

I have an XDS, I have an XDM 3.8 compact... this is going to be somewhere in between. The big difference here is the hammer-fire, not just the size! It will be interesting to see how the trigger is in here. Hammer-fired guns often have better triggers than striker-fired (yes, I know, its not a rule, just 'often')

I will definitely be renting one or encouraging a friend to buy one :p Maybe this will be the Springfield

BTW, even though the Saint's marketing was a bit much for a crowded market... I have shot one and it was really nice. Great included equipment, some BCM accessories, reliable and accurate.

8+1 single stack weighing in at 25 oz? That's 3 oz more than my 12+1 EDC an 2.3 oz more than the 16+1 SD9 I just ordered. I think they could have done better than that.

I was keeping an eye out for info on these. I like my XDS. I'd have been down for a DA/SA version.

Then Springfield stabbed me in the back (along with every other gun owner and non-"big box" dealer here in IL).

Pass.

I like it. I do wish they would quit putting the words "grip zone" on them....
I like the XD series, I have an XD-40 Sevice model and an XD-9 Sub Compact. I can see adding an XD-E.

well, it's the size of an XD-s, it's the only DA/SA I know of that lets you carry in both DA or SA mode with or without the safety set, and it's from a company that backs up their products...

... oh and it'll tick off all the guys who insist that if it aint made in austria it aint worth having. :D

FN FNX series, HK USP series, HK 45 series. But this is very slim compared to those as they're not single stacks (the 3913 is the closest DA/SA with a safety I can think of in terms of size, but that doesn't allow cocked and locked carry).

I don't care whether or not it's made by Glock (Glock doesn't even make a DA/SA pistol so that's kind of moot). I do think SA's actions in Illinois are going to cost them business with the firearms community as it's a community that loves to hold a grudge, at least for some time.

Odd, if they had left the hammer off they maybe cpuld have gotten the "I want a single stack Glock 19" crowd. As is, the newer Sig 225 interests me far more.

Then again with their Illinois garnage I won't be buying any Springfield guns anytime soon anyhow.

I agree, after the crap I read about them over the Illinois legislation I am very disappointed in them.. I wont be buying anything from them anymore.. I even might sell the one XD Mod2 9mm I have.....!
