Let's try some exotics!

SVT-40 (muzzle break)
Hakim (muzzle break/bayonet lug)
Rasheed (threaded barrel)
VZ-52 (no bayonet lug, but it folds out!!!)

All of these unfortunately would be banned, because they have a detachable mag and 1 other banned feature.

Which is a shame as they are all awesome rifles.

Honestly, I wouldn't try to buy a semi-auto in Illinois right now. I know this bill wasn't struck down in Federal court, and I'm hopeful SCOUTS will hear it and strike it down. I live in Colorado and the super majority is chomping at the bit to pass a similar or more restrictive bill.

There is an AR variant pump rifle out there.

And an out of production pump 357 based on the Remington 870 that will set you back a couple of grand if you can find one.

This is one of the most practical rifles you can own in a constitutionally restricted state that won't get the gun grabbers upset.

I tried to attach the PDF to the banned weapons guide for Illinois I found online. Here is the LINK to download the PDF. It has a flow chart at the bottom to walk you through the process.

@Taylor: That's a great link. Thanks. According to the flow chart, my 22 LR, Remington 597 is now an assault rifle because it has a boyds, barracuda, thumbhole stock.

I grew up in the southern part of Illinois curing the 50's and 60's. It was a great place then. Now, I won't even go back to visit.

The Izhmash Saiga AK-47 Sporter looks like it would pass the flowchart test. Its a semi-auto 7.62x39 with a 10 round magazine and won't take regular AK-47 magazines. The Sporter version of the original AK-47 rifle is marketed for hunting and civilian use. No pistol grip, no protruding grip on the stock, no flash suppressor, no muzzle brake, no barrel shroud.
