I got into that same Cycle a while back. Could never get satisfied with replacing the grips on my Ruger Single actions. (and yes I have bought a revovler just because I had grips I needed to put on something).
The good thing is it is fun and they seem to resale pretty quickly with little decrease in value (if you take care of them). Just another fun thing to do with this hobby. Here are a few I have gotten recently
