USN Jan. 88 - Oct. 00

Wanted to serve on a .50 cal mount for my General Quarters station, but I was in the nuclear power community and they told me that they didn't train me for two years to have me up there blasting away, so it was "back down in the hole" for me.

UnknownSailor, you were at Futenma in 94/95? I was at Camp Courtney, then Camp H. Gonzalves (NTA Base Camp) in 94/95. Small world.

I was stationed with one of the guys involved with that rape for about 2 years, although I can't say I knew him.

He was an admin type at NavHosp Long Beach, while I was working in the ER. Then, when the hospital closed, and all E1-E3's were sent to Okinawa, we were put in the same company, though different platoons, for Field Med. He failed, and caught the next class through. A few months later, he finally made it to Okinawa, where he went to Det Truck Company, H&S Co, 3rdMarDiv at Camp Hansen, while I ended up at Det NTA, H&S Co, 3rdMarDiv. I left the island about a month before they did their dirty deed. I was shocked to read about it in the paper, here in the states, and recognized the name.

Assuming they survived, they're scheduled to get out of prison about now, right?

I ended up visiting Kadena's facilities quite a bit more than Foster's. Ever play paintball at the old Onna Point recon base?

I didn't get a car while I was there, so I wasn't able to get around very much. I did go on a WWII tour once, and got to see the Japanese Imperial Navy underground headquarters, as well as a couple of other places.

Normally I would go up to Foster for shopping on the MWR bus to/from the Globe and Anchor.

I went to Kadena to play volleyball, and that's about it.

I was a barracks rat, what can I say?

1st Infantry Division (FWD) in Germany, 101st Airborne (Air Assault) -sigh- KY, 3rd Basic Tng Bde at Ft Dix, and as Operations Officer of a Recruiting Battalion commanded, in the words of Admiral Halsey, "An LSD, a large steel desk."

One thing I hate surfing some boards is the mocking of other services, jobs, whatever. I don't care if one is a SEAL or a cook at some Air Force Base in the USA, all are serving to their best ability, and I respect and honor all.
