Here's a 1937 Vz-24 Mauser that I picked up for $57 and re-built in .308...

Here's a commercial Oberndorf in .30-06. The receiver sight was there when I bought it. Not worth a whole lot now with the extra holes but it's the ideal rifle for me, and it shoots like it's laser guided.

My Husqvarna 9.3x57 built on a commercial M96 action. Serial puts it in the 1934 range. Built before they started ruining them with scope mounts. Also one of the nicest pieces of wood I've seen on a Husqvarna.

Standard - well almost

Here is a picture of a few of mine. The 1934 banner is a 'railway' marked rifle. High polish from end to end.

The 1907 DWM is a 'rifle crunch' war2 Danzig arsenal rebuild. Those crazy huns even milled off the parade hook on the forward band to keep it matched up. All parts are matching numbered and come from five of the manufacturers of the 98s during the war. The exterior has seen weather - bore is in great shape - but I just could not turn down a receiver that early on a war2 gun. Not to mention you don't see these rebuilds every day.

Also, here's a photo of a display that includes 98s I put up every few years at local shows. The vets - fewer now - enjoy it and I really enjoy hearing their stories. Makes it worth all the work.

Gunsmith told me action was good but needed new stock. Not original and nonmatching.

Anyway, do have (don't bash) an ATI replacement stock but it is not fitting. Is this large ring? The largest part of the bold does not want to fit?

I'm not certain whether I am proud enough of my mauser to take a picture of it or not... it's a mix master M41B swedish sniper without the scope and rail.

OK, here's a 98 Mauser based custom in .280 Rem AI. Elite 6500 2.5-16x50mm.

Mausers

BigJim3, I have attached two photos of my father's sporterized 8x57 Mauser, which I inherited, a few years ago. Dad was a constabulary officer in Heidelberg, Germany, 1946 to 1949. In 1947, he "liberated" as he describes it two 98s. He had a German gunsmith sporterize both. One had a Mannlicher style stock and the other is in the attached photo. Later, he traded the other Mauser. As you can see, I have the original Hensoldt scope and the its leather carry case. I have the original leather sling but replaced it with another to avoid the original breaking while carrying the gun on my shoulder. I don't hunt with it.

My photo is larger than this message will accept. Any suggestions on how to make it fit?

Mauser

I figured out how to reduce the size of the photograph so here is a photo of my father's sporterized 98, which was done in 1947.
