Jerking the trigger

As others stated dry firing with a quarter laying on the muzzle end of the slide. The idea is not to jerk the quarter of when dry firing.

"...he jerks it the rest of the way..." Sounds like he's anticipating the recoil or the bang. Even a .22 can throw a new shooter off. Might be that the pistol is too big for his hand or the ear defenders aren't working right. The Buck Mark(?) had a trigger job?
No dry firing with a .22, of course.
