Now, Willy, the ZM Weapons LR 300, according to my sources, cannot handle any kind of extended full-auto fire. The gas system is completely different than the M16/AR-15's gas system(which allows it to employ a folding buttstock). I believe someone told me that the problem relates to mechanism overheat. Specifically, I believe it relates to recoil spring overheat and failure on full auto.

The LR 300 supposedly has some kind of wrap-around recoil spring or something. Because the spring is so close to the gas system, on full-auto, the spring gets hot and fails, jamming the mechanism. I'm not sure about this precise description of events, but it's close to what I heard. I do know from my sources, however, that the LR 300 cannot even come close to doing what the M2 guns will do on full auto. It just can't take the heat.
