I need a Better CCW IWB ASAP

For those of you who don't know....

I own a Small Vending Business and I do a lot of heavy lifting and bending over. Twice in the last week, I've almost had My 38 Special fall off My Belt. I've been carrying it for about 4 months and I seem to have worn out the clip. I need something that is 100% secured and tight. If I drop a gun in any of My locations I could lose a few thousand dollars worth of business. Some of My locations are BEHIND ENEMY LINES and not Gun Friendly.
I think DIET COKE has to be the most popular Soda for Liberals.

Every gun shop I've gone into, lately, has Astronomical prices for holsters. I'm sure I could save a lot by ordering online. Where do I go for My 38 Special Snubby? I'm trying to stay under $60 but I don't want Junk.

Try Milt Sparks, or go by Tony Kannelly (sp?) Sorry I don't have the address handy.* Everyone's needs are different, but I hear that Spark's Versa-Max 2 just knocks the socks off of the competition. That most gentlemanly friend and competitor of Tony's, Lou Alessi, calls it maybe the best design of its type--and he's another one to look into. I have holsters and belts made by Alessi and Tony. The quality matches anything I've bought at twice the price. I'd name more leads but others' prices are obscene. OK, e-mail me and we can discuss this later if you wish.. Good luck.

Sincerely,
Ross Bellingham

Give these sights a try. I've found that not everyone makes holsters for every weapon. You'll have to do a little digging. Sounds like you need a holster with a top strap and straps to hold to your belt instead of a clip. I've had the same problem with a clip style IWB holster. Most of these sights have some really good holsters.

Milt Sparks. Some of the finest, heck, maybe the finest, holsters being made today. Call them and chat about your needs, you won't go wrong. I just ordered a Summer Secial and a 60TK for a Colt 5", there's an 8 to 14 week wait...but for the quality you get...it's not a problem.

The Summer Special is $62, spend the extra two bucks.

If your doing a lot of lifting, bending, twisting around and have a hard time minimizing the printing you might consider an ankle holster. Such as the one from Lou Alessie.

I am not a fan of moo-moo, preferring instead the skin of the extinct Kydexasaurus.

www.comp-tac.com
The undercover model is $38, the ShirtTucker (like mine) is $40ish.

Nothing feels more secure (to me) than a holster that your gun "clicks" into, and is locked into place. Adjustable tension screws finish the custom fit. I can turn my Kahr P40 upside down and shake, and it won't come out, but a tug of the shooting hand and it slides RIGHT out.

Now I'm certainly not saying it's BETTER than the above mentioned high class, top notch holsters by any means. But the Comp-Tac Kydex holster FUNCTIONS just as well... just not with all the hand-boned and tanned craftsmanship (and resulting price) of a leather holster.

Oh yeah, one more thing... you said "ASAP" on that holster... I ordered mine on friday, and it arrived on Wednesday. Most of the leather companies MAY (can, might, could possibly) take several weeks.

Try FIST, they make leather and KYDEX IWB's that don't kill the wallet. (www.FIST-INC.com).

Also Wild Bill's Concealment, and Tauris (This is how it is spelled, not like the cheap gun manufacturer) have inexpensive leather IWB options.

Most good, and by good I mean generally not the 20$ junk you find out there, ccw holsters are all season holsters. It all depends on how you dress. If you take the time to make sure that your clothing will cover your weapon and holster, you shouldn't have a problem.

I prefer dark colors in a polo type shirt for the summer. Dark colors reduce shadows and the likelyhood that your weapon of choice will print at an unfortunate time. In the winter, wear a jacket or a sweater.

I've carried full sized weapons (1911s, BHPs, large SIGs, Berettas) for a long time and never had a problem as long as I chose my clothing correctly. Even when I was a little warm in the summer time. A photographers vest might be just what you're looking for.

Let me do Some searching now.........

I just want one in the next week since I carry every day at work.

allright people:eek:

I'm lost here:confused:

Can someone help me narrow down EXACT styles for a Snub nose revolver. This is a little much for an amatuer like myself to pick out whats best. Why do people like Leather so much?

I'll second the Alessi Talon for a convenient, secure, comfortable and high quality leather IWB holster. I have one for every gun I own. With shipping it was $50 or $55 dollars. You can order one at www.rfholsters.com . Most of the time you can have one in about a week and a half.
A Milt Sparks would be another great choice, however, they're a bit harder to get ahold of.
Have you considered pocket carry? This would be another good choice. Kramer makes a real nice pocket holster, although a little salty (about $70). Conceals real nice... Looks like a wallet in my front pocket. I highly recommend it for security and concealment. I also use an inexpensive Uncle Mikes pocket holster when I wear tighter fitting jeans. Doesn't conceal the gun quite as well as the Kramer, but it's a good buy for the money ($10-$12).

I emailed them and they told me their website wasn't finished yet. I checked out the sight but I'm not even sure exactly what Model Taurus I have:( I don't think it says what model it is on it.

SodaPop,
If it's a 2inch, 5shot .38, then holsters for the SW M36 should fit it. An option is an Uncle Mike's pocket holster. Your local police supply store should stock them for about $10. I use one often, and they work well. I find it hillarious that you have almost 2,000 posts here and you don't know what model gun you carry :)

Its a Taurus Model 85, 38 Special. I just refer to it as 38 special snub nose and never looked at the Paper work again. My Colt 1991A1 and Beretta 92FS are a little bulky for the work I do. So I just went into a Gunshop and saw a nice Taurus in My price range and picked it up. I had to go threw My paper work to find out what it was again. You would think Most guns would have the models stamped on them, but this one didn't, just a Serial Number.

The hoslster I wore out was an Uncle Mike's. It worked fine until about a week ago.

I pretty much hang out in the Rifle and General Discussion forums. I'm Not much of a Pistol shooter.

I thought about that but I wear Shorts in the Summer. I'm looking for an all year long CCW holster.

I carry my Steyr M40 in an Action Direct Defender ... it doesn't matter what pants I'm wearing it holds the gun securely and comfortably, and most importantly DEEP COVER. If I run around or do a lot of lifting it doesn't move (if I'm bicycling I use the velcro on thumb strap but otherwise I haven't found a need for it).

I'm sure many here will pooh-pooh the old bellyband but it sounds like it would work well for you (your back might even enjoy the benefits of having the band tight around your mid section with all that lifting).
