I guess I'm feeling nostalgic........

7x57 Mauser.

7mm/08 is ballistically similar but I have always loved the idea of the 7mm Mauser, since I grew up in the 70s and 80s reading the legendary Jack O'Connor books.

Around here, I get the feeling that the .35 Remington is obsolete.

Dumb peasents thinking .30-30 is the only cartridge to have a Marlin in.....

6.5x50

Arisaka ammo is seasonal like a snow shoe hare's white coat.
It's never been produced in a sporting rifle, only sporterized rifles.
Overshadowed in energy and ballistics by other rounds that are commercially produced.
Not quite obsolete, but not much of a future.

"Not quite obsolete, but not much of a future."

Which, in the case of the 6.5x50, is an extreme pity.

It's a wonderful little cartridge -- well balanced, flexible, light recoiling, efficient, and I suspect, in the proper gun, quite accurate.
