I have been wandering back to Glocks for years now. I'd buy a few, swear to myself that this is it, I'm gonna keep 'em and learn to live with what for me is a horrible grip.

Yesterday I went to my LGS with the H&K bug, and I was pretty sure I wanted a P2000 in 40 S&W. $899. I handled it, then handled a SIG P229, it was $859. There were lots of similarities as well as a lot of differences. The main difference being weight - the H&K is around 10 ounces lighter.

So I asked the mall ninja type sales guys which one they thought and you'd think SIG was paying them for endorsements.

So.... I walked out with a brand new P2000. I only had time to fire 100 rounds but wow, what a fine shooter. The trigger will take a little getting used to but I could consistantly hit COM at 7 yards. It conceals with no issues as the physical dimensions are quite similar to my (former) Glock 19.

I ordered up a Theiss hybrid IWB holster, three more mags and a set of Trigicons for her and I think I'm all set. Now, I just gotta get the P2000 SK!

HKs really are solid feeling guns. They've really stepped up their game in recent years in the ergonomics department. Enjoy the new purchase!

Yeah..I'm still with the old school USP in .40

Feels like a Glock minus the finger grooves.

I just got myself a Walther PPQ which is extremely similar to one of the Hk's that are out now. Same grip and ergonomics I swear. Forgot what Hk it was similar to..Like the model number.

Oh well..Congrats on the new gun!
I want an Hk in 9mm too. :)

P2000 is my favorite pistol. I have an old one from '04 that I got used and in 1400 rounds so far it hasn't had one malfunction. I like it so much I got another one new that I use for carry while I beat up my original one. :D

seems like people are either hk or sig people. i can't hit anything with a usp, but i'm dead nuts with my p226. my buddy is the complete opposite. the only hk's i shoot well are the p30 and p7.

I have owned several HK and still own a USP Compact 9mm that my wife uses. They are very nice guns. I am a Sig guy now for various reasons. HK is still my favorite polimer pistol. You do get what you pay for.

I have an HK p2000 40sw (DA/SA version) and a Sig P226 (E2 version with the SRT). Both are excellent guns and both have been completely reliable (other than some issues in reseating mags on the 226 during emergency reload drills -- you really need to slam that puppy home). The trigger on the 226 winds hands down. However, the finish on the barrel on the 226 is starting to wear, and I have trouble shooting the 226 accurately -- it consistently shoots low and I think I need to replace the rear site.

The HK DA trigger is somewhat gritty and long, but there is something about the HK that just feels utterly solid, and the grip is more ergonomic than the Sig (and I've read that the P30 is even better). If I had to choose one gun to stake my life on, it would be the HK.

Hk feels like a higher class Glock to me....

lol...Grip on the SIG to me is more ergonomic.

Not bashing. I have an Hk and I love it.

Only guns I hate the feel of are mouse guns. Maybe cause I have huge paws? Idk...

The H&K you are thinking of is the P30, which whole-heartedly copied the superb ergonomics of the Walther P99 (on which the PPQ is based).

I wouldn't call it a direct copy, as it isn't. The P99 is a great gun though and it's ergos are awesome.

I sense some HK bashers are already being drawn to this thread, which will likely turn into "HK is a great gun, but it's overpriced and brand X is actually better". Would be nice if we could just share the OP's excitement, but alas.

HEY! You tunnel rat! :p That wasn't that harsh of a bash. Was it? lol No seriously I do like them..

Really happy for the OP. Hk's are really good. Just not my preferred.

Thanks, Fish...It's the P30. I couldn't tell them apart from afar.

Can't wait to get that Walther PPQ...

I do, however...have a bigger gripe about this thread. The OP failed the unspoken policy on new guns.

No pics. -___-

Post pics...Please?

It's pretty dang close!

Obviously the stipping and presense of replacable sidestraps on the P30 is a minor difference. Otherwise, the shape, dimensions, and "feel" of the two grips are almost identical. That said, they both feel great. I would give the ever-so-slight edge in ergonomics to the P99 (at least the latest generation) due to the longer and easier to use mag release.

They're really not, I've owned both. The angles of the two grips are slightly different, as is the hump at the bottom of the P99 grip. The P30 grip is more vertical. I also prefer the P99 grip.

In fact the P2000 with a large backstrap is closer in grip to the P99 than the P30 is. If by similar you mean they both feel good, then yea they do.

Lol, wow. Umm no. The P99 is a striker fired gun.

lol wow, um..didn't know you were born as an oracle of all knowing. Hence why I asked. I don't know much on Walther or the new Hk's. Didn't mean to insult your honor Mr. Rat...

I'm not fond of the Google generation of learning. lol I bet I know a world of stuff about guns that you don't. Just saying. :D

/Sigh, did I say that? No I didn't. If my comment came off as snide, I'm sorry. The "Lol wow" was actually in reference to the comment about drooling over the trigger, cause I found it funny...(and yes it is a very nice trigger).

I don't know much on Walther or the new Hk's.

Which I guess seems odd to me. I find it weird that people have PPQs and don't know about the P99. Without the P99 there is no PPQ and the P99 has been around for a long time.

Didn't mean to insult your honor Mr. Rat...

I'm not fond of the Google generation of learning.

Certainly Google has its limits and isn't the end all be all. But it can be great for quick fact checking and just getting a general idea about something.

lol I bet I know a world of stuff about guns that you don't. Just saying.

That is more than likely true. :) All I was trying to do was expand that knowledge to include some of my own.
