I have a spring type trigger gauge that registers pull weights up to 8lbs. For pull weights above 8lbs, I have found that I can jury-rig a luggage scale to provide me with ballpark trigger pull weight figures.
I have a Lyman spring gauge I use for my articles. It is marked to 12 pounds and I have checked it with the old school trigger gauges with the weights.
