I'll get toasted but.......
Don't most people agree that for CCW at least, the biggest advantage is simply carrying a gun? Is a mugger going to attack if he realizes that you just pulled a .25 on him? A gun is a gun. Does 1 shot stop really exist in the world of handguns?
With that said, I carry a .38spl with Speer +P. If I do ever use it, it want some power behind it.
