Alcohol or acetone will work fine for degreasing . For a base coat I use White-Out or Liquid Paper correction fluid ( use it at work). Painted some sights and it has been there for years. Discovered the white sight , with no colored nail polish, works best for me. Haven't found any glow in the dark nail polish yet , but that would be fun to try.
