Over the weekend I got to fondle and makeout with one of these for one round at the Vero Beach (Sebastian) range. Nice wood, nice handling, nice price! 32-inch tubes, 9 lbs.

I'm not sure about the heads-up-attitude thing though, my score was a 17. It will be interesting to see if the sporting/skeet guns continue to go this direction.

Many moons ago, I started this whole target gun thing with trap - so I somewhat get the heads-up thing. But for now I'll lay my head on the stock.

Sweet gun though - I am no longer a Kolar virgin.

Glad to hear you got an opportunity to shoot one.

I agree, I think they're very good guns / but I haven't been able to make myself write the check yet either ......

BigJim - you could sell ALL of your Brownings, get the KOLAR with the carrier tube and sub gauge set, and you'll have one gun to do it all - and at nine pounds plus, with the largest overbore at .750, it WILL be the softest shooting thing your bionic shoulder ever felt.......

I wouldn't want to be the first of our little group to buy the Kolar / and deprive you guys of the joy of being first. Besides, with my luck, if I bought it - some meathead would scratch it in a gunrack or something ...

The bionic shoulder will have to be content with the Benelli 12ga and maybe a 28ga O/U again this week ....

Besides, I just put new tires on my SUV for $ 1,500 last week - next week I'm having a couple of new windows put in at the house and a little work done on the main chimney for about $ 15K ---- the piggybank is empty guys ...you'll have to do it without me this year...

I share your skepticism. I don't know if it's going to be a flash-in-the pan or the new standard. With the 32" high rib and straight stock, it looks a lot like my trap gun (Beretta 682-X w/ Gˆ2 Shockmaster). I've tried it on Skeet "just because" and the swing was awkward.

Tires are quite the engineering feat as well. And SUV tires are just big. My car cost only $500 to replace all 4. That was with a 40k warranty, roadhazard replacement, and mounting/balancing. And they're damn good tires too.

If you want crazy expensive tires, get a sportbike. $3-500, and they'll only last about 5000 miles! :D

My SUV is an AWD and curb weight is about 5,600 lbs - and it takes a 275/60R-18 tire ....but what can you do. $ 1,500 isn't that bad for a set of tires that should give me 50,000 miles ( and its a 2004 model, so I'll keep the vehicle another 4 or 5 years probably - since its still real tight / has all the options I need ..).

Besides we're debating tire cost / when you're looking at at $ 25,000 shotgun .... come on now ...

Its easy to justify spending another $ 15K on my home / its 45 yrs old / and we intend to stay here even though its way more room than we need -- just can't give up the big house yet as we near retirement...

Have to keep it all in perspective ...( I'm not whining / even my bad days are great / and I have way more guns, tools and other toys etc than I have a right to expect ..)...

I was serious when I said you could sell ALL of your browning for the Kolar - without fancy engraving/stock upgrades, you can get one for around 10,not 25.........

You're tempted.....I KNOW you are.........:D:p

I know .....but I want some of the engraving ... and I have to have some of the stock upgrades ( or it'll look like a boat paddle ...)... but you guys would have to travel out west " to sniff it "...

heck, I'd even let you shoot it ....

I got family in Reno I HAVE to visit (it ain't MY side of the family) next summer - you get that gun and I'll gladly make a detour to shoot with or for you!

Kolars are heavy,expensive and ponderous.

Every one I've had the privilege of trying has found its way to the target easily.

Were I in the market for a high end competition O/U, the Kolar would be on the short list.

So would the K-80, Perazzi's MX series and the DT10.

And not much else.....

I would put the Krieghoff, Kolar and Blaser in the top 3 - and respectfully leave the Perazzi in 4th - and put Browning in 5th ( XS Skeet, XT Traop ....) and the DT-10 in 6th .

But in my mind, its a solid Top 5 or 6 that would be hard to beat...

My Missive Retort:

That is the truth right there!

But lets be honest. We that know are at a point in our chronologic age where we can afford it or at a point in our shooting career where we want to know it.

Taking the more philosophic view, perhaps it is "our" purpose to help "edumicate." And, remember there are only certain hourses that can be borught to the trough.
