Boolits in the mail

No problemo Kyle, um, er, one problem, I don't have 50 cast right now. BUT I'll be firing up the pot soon to make some rifle bullets for 30 cal and try 2 new molds. I'll be using some "so called" linotype lead, that I suspect is a bunch of letters and spacers all melted together. It results in a BHN of around 18 air cooled, would probably water quench quite a bit harder.

Will you be using them in your triple deuce? You should be able to push them to 1900-2000 with a gas check and tamarack 50-50. I can size and lube while seating the gas check to .224.

BTW the new molds are a double cav in C-312-155-2R and a 2 cav 430-310-RF. The first one is mainly for the 7.62 X 39, but it can be sized down to .309. The second I actually have a gun to shoot them in is a heavy weight for 44 mag, both are gas checked bullets.

As a side note, one individual has taken advantage of my offer, he should be getting his bullets in a couple days. Kyle, all I ask is for you to cover the postage, which cost ONLY $4.80 for the small flat rate box to anywhere in the U.S. I can print the postage and ship right from my home!

I'm going to bring this TTT, To The Top, again to give new people a chance to maybe get a few bullets to try out. The conditions are the same, just reimburse me for the postage.

Answer to a prayer

I posted about a year ago about something like this and did not get any bites so I bought 3 molds in March but still would like to try others before I buy the molds so tell me what you have and I will let you know if there is something interesting to me.Thank you very much for the offer.

Helpin out

I`ll help out a little , I have a bunch of lee& lyman 38/357 molds .

I have a 358156hp that`s had the GC removed.
The obsolete 357446 swc ( works good above 1,000fps)
The lee 158 rnfp that shoots beatifully in all the 38/357 I own .

A lee 150 gr. 30/30 mold & a lyman 314299 is all the rifle I have at the moment.

44 I have 429421 429215 that`s had the GC removed lee 310 gr sledge hammer.

Most of these I have cast in a semi soft isotope alloy that is 10.5 bhn.

I usually don`t lube until I`m ready to load.

Sorry no tumble lubes .

Whatcha got there Snuffy? Lets see how close I can get... L to R...

Looks like an 8mm, a .284/7mm (could be a .30, just looks a tad small if the first is in fact a .324 something), a heavy .45, a heavy .44, a .30 cal, a .40 cal, and a 9mm? Don't ask me the mold numbers, I could probably get closer by banging my head on the keyboard a couple times... :D

For people that shoot jacketed and cast bullets, it is a quick way to differentiate that you are shooting a cast boolit. Bullets wear jackets.
They frown on the terms use here at TFL and probably rightly so because it's use could contribute to the slack jawed yokel sterotype.

I think it's hilarious term and boolit is good shorthand for cast bullet, but when in Rome...:)

thanks

bullets were used for centuries without jackets, in fact jacketed bullets are a relatively recent (in historical terms) phenomenon

Wow! Not too far off. L-R 1 is a 303 bullet, 180 grain .313. 2 is a 308 170, made for the thutty-thutty. 3 is a 300 grain .452. 4 is a 300 grain .429. 5 is a 7.62 X 39 bullet, @ 150 grain, casts at .311. 6 is a Lee TLTC @ .452. for 45 acp 230 grain. 7 is a 124 9mm also a tumble lube.

1, C312-185-1R #90371 2, C309-150-F #90366 3, C452-300-RF #90359 4, C430-310-RF #90858 5, C312-155-2R #90385 6, TL452-230-TC #90286 7, TL356-124-2R #90464

All are Lee molds. I do have some older Lyman's and one on the way, a 150 SWC GC, to try to duplicate Skeeter Skelton's favorite load.

Renfield, go here to see why that term/misspelling is used.

http://castboolits.gunloads.com/index.php

Here's the reasoning behind it by the originator of the spelling.

From 45nut, owner of cast boolits.
Boolits= as God laid it into the soil,,grand old Galena, the Silver Stream graciously hand poured into molds for our consumption.

Bullets= Machine made utilizing Full Length Gas Checks as to provide projectiles for the masses.

Have you tried the 300gr Lee 44 and 45 yet? They sure look wicked. I'm thinking of ordering them both shortly for myself. And the matching 357. Should be a heck of a hunting boolit.

I call the lee 310 a 2 holer 1 going in & 1 going out !!!!

I run em with IMR 4227 `bout 1100fps & that`s enuff for me !!!

No to both. I only have a 45 colt in a 45/.410 combo, so I'm not in a big hurry to try it. The Comanche is hardly an accurate gun! Makes a great short .410 though!:)

As for the 300 44, i jst got that mold, haven't had time to size any, it's one project on a long list that I intend to do this summer. First is to get the garden planted.

I hope my super blackhawk will like that bullet.
