All metal 45acp target guns

All steel, 45ACP, target shooting; I'd also add something different, a S&W revolver like a 25-2 - no brass to chase!

L.B. the out of production S&W 845s and 945s would be way up on my list. I've owned several Colt Gold Cups between the '70s and recent 2000s. I wouldn't automatically, no pun intended, look to one of those as a fine target pistol. I had one 70-Series G.C. that was splendid as to both accuracy and reliability. It was as accurate as any pistol I've ever owned. The rest ranged between dismal and OK.

FWIW, I have a 20+ year old Baer HBNM pistol. It was guaranteed to shoot the standard 3" group at 50 yards. Mine came with a 10-shot target of a bit less than 2" at 50 Yds. I would think that a Baer, especially with the 1.5" guarantee, might satisfy most wanting a very accurate metal-framed target pistol at a reasonable price...

S&W Performance Center 945 for the win.

Rock River (not Rock Island) 1911. They started making them again a few years ago, after a hiatus. The older ones are better. I believe a 1.5" guarantee at 50 yards if you get a bullseye model.

Not really a target gun, but my HK Mark 23 is also a real shooter and will survive the apocalypse.

Custom Alchemy Prime - I have a 9mm version and it is one of the best values in semi-custom 1911's. I suspect the wait is now probably up to at least a year.

P.S. Some of the above items are going to be hard to find because they are no longer in production (or because the older version is better than the current model); and because those of us that own them would never sell them.:)

I carried a Wilson Master grade as a duty gun for 20 years.

A buddy had a S&W 645. It made my Colt seem dainty.

I've had a Gold cup I purchased mid 70's, never had a problem with it other than it's fussy about ammo, never had to send it back for repair, unlike my Kimbers.
Only problem with it is that after all these years of use the trigger is now somewhere around 2lbs. relegating it to target duty only. Most accurate 1911 ever I have owned and I've had 20 plus over the years. Currently a big Dan Wesson fan, own 3 1911's of theirs.
My vote for a target pistol would be the Dan Wesson PM-45.
Would love a Wilson Combat, Ed Brown or a Les Baer but the DW is the one I'm familiar with and falls into my high end beer budget.

I have a shiny series 80 Gold Cup National Match made in 1992

It’s very accurate with a great trigger
