.338 Rem ultra mag

My only child is on her own and the grandkids are 10 to 17... I figure I have a few years left to use such a rifle so if I don't get it next year, I might just scrap the idea.

I know what you mean. I used to have a bunch of British bikes that I sold to take care of responsibilities and now they'd all be worth a fortune...

The other reason is inconsistent belt width, causing inconsistent headspacing.

I've miked belts on WW and Rem brass and found as much as .006 difference in belt width.

Neck sizing usually cures the problem.
Norma brass eliminates that problem. Continual neck sizing creates its own problems. Bumping the shoulder seems to be the best compromise.

I would say if you want one, chase it down. The 338s are no more dead than we are.

I know quite a few folks that use rifles chambered in some form of 338.

The long range guys are sold on the idea that 338 is the only way to go.

Lots of bullets to choose from, but most require hand loading.

I had a 338 Win Mag at one time, but traded it for a 375 H&H.

The RUM version is a killer and can be very accurate.

Two of my friends are shooting the 338 Edge. They love them.

That's the way I see it too. But, give it a few weeks and it will change again.
